Canons?

I prefer Zoey and Louis over Zoey and Ellis. There are so many voice lines from L4D1 that show how much Zoey really loves Louis, and they belong together. The Zoey and Ellis ship just doesn't make sense. For one, it violates existing canon, and for another, it's just silly: Ellis is pants on head retarded, a few dimes short of a nickel, while Louis is very intelligent, and of course Zoey would choose someone smarter with more dignity.

I do really love the Rochelle and Francis pairing. Francis seems very traditional and a gentlemen, and of course Rochelle would love him treating her like a lady. They're both pretty mature and sensible and perfect for each other.

Thoughts? What characters do you like the canons of? What are your favorite non-canonical ships? Which characters in L4D1 and 2 would you like to see with new pairings in L4D3?

Umm... no? There really aren't. I literally, just to be sure, listened to every single audio clip of Zoey in L4D1 and aside from the "Anything for you Louis" and the comment about how Louis would look good in a hospital gown, both of which could be interpreted as either friendly, flirtacious, or sarcastic, no audio from the game implies there is anything between them more than friendship. Therefore, there is no violation of "canon", as silly as that thought is, and Ellis is not stupid. He's a goofy guy, sure, but he's not an idiot. It just seems like you have a bias against Southerners, or perhaps a fetish for interracial romance. That's cool and all (the latter, not the former), but I think you're a little too invested in this fictional romance.

I think I remember something in the commentary or an article somewhere saying that originally, Zoey was going to have romantic interest in Francis, but that part of the plot was removed after being deemed "distracting".

Well yeah, stuff along those lines. She's the most upset when Louis dies, she does flirt with him when she thanks him or he thanks her; there's also this voice line I heard once in game where she says something about how he's a big strong sexy guy or something along those lines.

I don't have anything against Southerners, Ellis just comes off as really goofy and kind of dumb. And it's nothing about Louis' race, I'm just big into canon and stuff.

Ellis does come off goofy as they intended, but not dumb. Louis never says anything that implies he's a genius either; he just doesn't' tell goofy stories.

I always thought there is something between Francis and Zoey.

Later i read the developers wanted some kind of "romance" between them, but felt that would be too distracing for the story, so they dropped the idea.

And of course there are a lot of lines from Ellis which implies he loves Zoey, and Zoey too seems interested about him.
