FRAME RATE ISSUES
i used to run left 4 dead 2 on my really old laptop (made in 2004) at 40 fps lowest settings and resolution. and i switched pc's and i got a really good custom built pc ( besides the graphics card) and now i only get around 5-20 fps with same settings.
my system specs of my new pc are
intel core 2 quad 2.33GHz 2.34GHz
6GB DDR3
500GB HDD 7200RPM
Nvidia GeForce G100 2GB DDR2

i know for a fact it is my video card adapter that may be effecting this!

It's infact your GPU, DDR2 has become outdated now and wont really help to run many games today. im surprised you can still play l4d2 with that unplayable framerate. anything below 30 is just not bearable. Upfrade to a ddr3 graphics card. I play with a 256 mb ( i know its terrible) gpu and it does just fine with 30-40 fps on average on low.

Dude if you dont want to regret your purchase you need to get at least 2 690's or 3 titans. Dont go cheap man. For 60 FPS youll need at least 3 GPU's.

Dude one 690 might be alotta bit overkill. I would seriously rec you go with a single GPU vs a double GPU solution as its less tax to the CPU. Sorry for joking earlier. If the most intense thing your going to be doing is l4d2ish type stuff look at the GTX 760.

well lol... once i get enough money i will get battleifled 4 i have battlefield 3 right now but i never expected my gpu to suck so bad lol ( i noticed that your hard drive is the most important thing for gaming than any other component besides your gpu) im getting ready to buy a few LCD wall hung moniters tho.

CPU and GPU are equally important for modern titles. Hard drive affects load time.

You really, REALLY need to make sure that your power supply is going to be good enough to run a 690.

Oh hell naw. Get two AMD 290x's for half the price. Get a 1k PSU and a 2 way SLI mobo.

Although GTX 690 is a great card it has only 2 GB`s of usable vram, get a 290x has 4 GB`s better for newer games BF4 etc plus has mantle support for that game and for Star Citizen.

Card does run hot though and uses alot of juice, make sure you have a decent power supply.

Not a fanboy either I have a GTX 590, just figured the extra GB of vram might help if he plays games maxxed out.

Or you could get a GTX 780 for less and have a cooler, faster 3gb card that uses less power and has alot of headroom for overclocking. Cant call me a fanboy, my cpu is FX-8350. http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/1610267? Compare with other scores running 290X and FX-8350-9590. The card is the decider. It really is better on paper and it makes sense in real world use.

I agree. In a fair few performance benchmarks the GTX 780Ti outperforms the Titan. I'd suggest a single one of those. That will run everything sweet for a while then down the line as sys reqs increase just get another 780 and Sli them. Yes a Hench system is nice but there is no point in spending an insane amount really. At the moment I am on a Overclocked EVGA GTX560 and find L4D2 smooth and I have a solid fps rate.

Even if you upgrade to gtx690 your CPU will bottleneck it. :)
