Better than the first?
Everyone on L4D thread says it's not and has a horrible Versus and all it adds is Meelee weapons and in nearly every way L4D is an improvment over L4D2?

Is this true or does everyone say this about newer stuff?
My friend said it's not great too and first is better.

I have yet to try it, I got it 80% off in sale today.

l4d2 has everything that l4d1 has and then some.

The only reason why you would play l4d1 over 2 is some mods that haven't been ported to l4d2 yet.

As far as I know l4d1 doesn't have realism versus so the versus "argument" is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ beyond absurd.

Left 4 Dead is an overall tighter game. Better atmosphere, more compelling zombie apocalypse. There are fewer weapons and Specials, which means more focused gameplay.
(Valve did a not-so-great job of porting the Versus versions of the original campaigns, so they are not a proper indication of what Left 4 Dead is truly like.)

Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 are more different than anyone who hasn't played Left 4 Dead gives them credit for. In my opinion, Left 4 Dead is definitely worth playing, despite the fact that the community is nigh on dead, because it's a better experience.

l4d1 was a fun game, but i'd much rather have the variety of weapons and infected that 2 offers. i used to say in the past that the only advantage l4d1 had over 2 was that it had better campaigns overall, but now 2 has all of 1's content, so yeah.

Nope it's not.

Campaings are identical (textures, lighting and models are exactly the same as l4d1).

Not having realism alone makes l4d1 not worth playing.

Also not having to put up with the community of the first one makes this a billion times better.

The beef between L4D1 and L4D2 fanbase seems to go back to the day L4D2 was announced, and Valve did not keep their promise to maintain Left 4 Dead to the same extent 2 was. Some dudes to this date refuse to buy L4D2 even for 5 bucks over that, some others cite that Left 4 Dead 2 is an unnecessary game and that its content, gameplay style and new specials are bad and or rage inducing. I don't know, I own both games and Left 4 Dead 2 is far, far superior if you ask me.

Uhm, campaigns are different. Fences moved/removed, different paths, a complete avenue in Death Toll walled off, f***ing gauntlet events. I want to kill whoever mandated that damned metal detector. Plus Left 4 Dead has far more ambient music and noise.

Not having to deal with Jockeys and Valve's lazy porting job makes Left 4 Dead worth playing.

Metal detector is new? Campaing must have been super duper easy before that gauntlet?

You complain about jockeys? The SI that nobody takes seriously?
