Right thumbstick can't aim horizontally in L4D2

I am trying to use a gamepad to play L4D2, before anyone says anything, I am not new to PC gaming, and am not questioning the validity of keyobard and mouse, it is simply my preference for such games, also, I am playing on a laptop, so using the track pad is out of the question. I am not looking to spend money to resolve this issue, be it on a wireless mouse, or xpadder.

I am using a PS3 Batarang controller and all buttons work fine with the exception of the right thumbstick. I can aim vertically, but it refuses to acknowledge horizontal movement from it.

It works fine with every other game I try it with, and have never had an issue with it being a Playstation controller rather than 360.

I have tried modifying 360controller.cfg, I have tried turning the controller on before starting the game, after starting the game, starting the game, then disabling and re-enabling controller support, and have tried all with, and without x360ce files being present, but nothing works, and there has been zero difference in behaviour between each change attempted; it behaves just as it did being plugged in with nothing modified.

Just to confirm, there is nothing wrong with the controller itself, it has been used before and after attempting L4D2 on both PC and PS games with no difficulty.

For reference, here is the modification used in 360controller.cfg. I found it while searching for a fix. The post said to replace the first half (controller 1) portion of the file with this code.

I'm having the same problem. I'm using a PS3 SIXAXIS, and it works for everything else on my PC and PS3, but no horizontal movement in L4D2. I'd really like a fix for this because for me, the game is unplayable otherwise.

Wow, instakick if I'd ever have a gamepad-player on my game (regardless of the team of course).
That said, it wouldn't surprise me if this is simply bugged due to being not used in the pc version in the first place. So my guess would be that you would have stumbled upon something.
