So often wondered which option most players are prepared to put up with. Because neither option will give totally smooth gameplay.
In short, guys, I use vertical sync.
Unfortunately not. I'm using g-sync with l4d2 as it's a bit better than v-sync, but only marginally so. Personally I think g-sync has been hyped into something it's not.
If you look at nvidia's official wording in relation to g-sync they do say it gets rid of tearing. But when they describe it's effectiveness on lag and stuttering, you see they always say "less" lag and "less" stuttering. "less", thats because it doesn't completely get rid of stuttering.
It's basically a modified version of v-sync with synchronization at the monitor end as well as at the gpu end, rather than just synchronization at the gpu end like with v-sync. And because of that it still suffers from the same nonsensical weirdness issues that v-sync has, namely frame stutter even when the fps is consistent.
