Health or Ammo?
I've always struggled deciding which to leave and to take whenever I find a pile of incendiary or explosive ammo. Whats your choice?

In my experience almost always health. Unless everyone is stopped looting other stuff, or someone is healing, then someone uses the ammo then and there and then picks their health kit back up.

Some Pros/Cons of Fire Ammo:
-Good for common, kills them with 1 shot/pellet from any gun.
-Good for doing pro-longed damage to tank from far away, hit him with 1 pellet and he'll stay lit for a couple hundred HP each time.
-Good for doing more damage to SI that are far away as they work their way in as the burn isn't affected by range.
-Bad for tanks if tank is already on fire. To explain further, if a survivor lights the tank on fire with a molotov, that tank will stay lit forever until it dies, but the fire ammo only keeps the tank lit for a few seconds. With that being said, if the tank is on fire and you shoot him with a fire bullet/pellet, it over-writes the molotov fire light and the fire on the tank will dissipate after the few seconds of the fire bullet/pellet, basically extinguishing the tank.

Some Pros/Cons of Explosive Ammo:
-Good for SI as it stumbles them.
-Good for common clearing if the common are close together as it causes splash damage, also applies to SI.
-Bad for tight quarters are is does Friendly Fire to your teammates if the bullets hit near them from the scrapnel.

Some Pros of Health:
-It's freakin' health.
-Can easily be subbed with Pills/Adrenaline.

I am sure there's more pros/cons but I got bored of writing. In the end, the different ammo types help spice the game up, so if your team is doing fine against the opposing team, grab the ammo for the hell of it. You can even pick it up quick, deploy it right then and there, and then re-pick your health pack up.

I prefer health. Ammo is useful sometimes, but it's not my thing.

Fire Ammo can cause vision issues for players and Explosive Ammo almost always leads to friendly fire damage. Both are always optional as you can easily kill common, witches, and tanks without them.

Medkits are love, medkits are life.

It's all situational. If you're just facing hordes of infected, go for explosive. If you know a talk or witch will be coming up, go for incindiary.

I'd just immediately deploy whatever ammo it is you've found and then pick up the medkit again. Just use you secondary weapon until you feel it's the right time to use your incendiary or frag rounds.

Personally, I have not really seen effective use of the fire ammo or explopsive ammo in public games. That being said.... I perfer med kit.

Dont take me wrong, but you think like a rookie. Grab everything you need. Use health pack on gray screen only. Take the best tier gun offered.

Most of the time, only take health packs. If you know you have a tank fight coming and you don't have any molotovs/gas cans the fire/frag bullets might be useful, but otherwise probably not. The general practice is to just deploy them unless someone has an open slot. You can also 'juggle' the ammo packs if you have nothing better to do.

This for sure. It always bothers me when I see a teammate a 70 health, we all have pills and 100 health, and he just ignores more pills on the ground. Stuff is there to use. Pop those damn pills and pick up new ones. Same goes for ammo. If you aren't planning on taking it with you, just deploy it, and use it, then save it for the right time. Every time I use an ammo, my team grabs it and uses it all on the first couple zeds we see. Then a few min later, a horde starts comming and I just mow them all down, and I still have a few left to light a SI or a tank. On anything below expert, the magnum is a fantastic substitute for fighting CI.

Not everyone is so neurotic about their health. Sometimes, the few seconds you lose making a detour for a superfluous health item is not worth it. Everyone has their own comfort levels, and more often than not, a few extra ticks of bleeding health won't make a difference one way or the other, especially if it means putting yourself in a worse map position or giving the SI another opportunity to attack. This is especially true on campaign mode where you're just completely flooded with constant health items.

I personally would rather not waste the 5+ seconds deploying ammo and/or risk losing my medkit. You don't ever need special ammo and you really should not develop a habit of relying on them. Forcing yourself into a position where you're rationing your primary weapon's ammo is pretty much never the optimal option either.

Also, on anything below expert, magnums are a much worse option than dualies or melees for killing common. Magnums are most useful for dealing with SI or clearing common on Realism, and slightly useful in Expert to kill common in one shot. On anything below expert you can kill more common per clip using dualies, and you can also afford to take a hit or two here and there.

This is a joke... take the ammo, DEPLOY it and then take your medic -.-
Otherwise MEDIC is the most important you need.

I prefer the explosive ammo because it gibs CI in one shot, and stumbles specials like witch, and as for deciding which to take, health or ammo: Grab ammo, deploy, grab health, you get both. Its really that simple

If you don't have a medkit.. Fire ammo is good in car alarm spammed areas while explosive ammo for beating a witch without even thinking to cr0wn or snipe tactic her.
