Frame Issues on good computer
When playing this game when there is about 10-15 zombies my frames drop from 70-140 to 40-60. I'm on maxed everything with x4 AA. Is this normal when there are hordes/explosions?

I think there is something bigger wrong with your computer, seeing as how your frames are only reaching 70-140. With my old GTX570 I capped out at 300, which you shouldn't do anyway as it causes screen tearing, but not the point. I assume all of your drivers are updated and you dont have any extra settings in your autoexec.cfg nor game launch options.

I don't have less than 60 fps with a HD 7850 2 gigs. Settings maxed (vsync triple buffered, MSAA x8, anistropic x16) whatever the number of infected. Check your drivers.
Could a CPU bottleneck drop massive frames?

It could, in theory, be a hardware related issue, but I wouldn't say that yet. Have you tried playing other games, and do you experience the same max fps/fps drops in those games?

Your cpu is more then enough to ultra this game at 4k resolutions even :P

No. I can play BF4 @ High 60 frames. Idk why it's bad in L4D2. :(

That's it? Let me ask, do you have V-sync enabled in all of your games and might your monitor be a 120HZ?

Disable all mods and bench a local server. Probably a high latency server.
I'm playing vanilla. What do you guys think the FPS for my specs should be while playing this game?

You should easily be capping out at 300fps, with v-sync off of course.

It's capped to 300 in the menu and I don't have Vsync on. :( If someone had like a GTX 760 and an APU would that drop frames in hordes?

Well when any horde spawns in the game, even if you can't see them, you will see your FPS drop, but the fact that it's just occuring anytime you see any amount of common is something else. Try lowering your video settings in-game and see if your FPS ingame are still low.

It's not any number, it's just around 15 + grenades and a tank. Then I get some 55 FPS dips. Should my computer be around those numbers even when there is a horde?

you may need a faster gpu im running on a laptop geforce 520MX clock speed of 1800
RE3AB May 11, 2014 @ 10:58pm
you could also try turning off some of the settings to see if that speeds up your frame rate and general maintence like defragging hard drive etc. I hope this helps i could be wrong about the gpu speed i look up yours and according to nvidias site the clock speed is 1034 boosted but can you find out from your own com and post it here.

The latest NVIDIA drivers have issues with several games at present, but normally you will have a lot of people with various g-force cards all having the same problem. Have you tried a single player off-line test? That could tell you if it is a network bottleneck or not.
