L4D1 vs L4D2 (Read text)
So I decide to read the left 4 dead 1 forums. One article was about which game was better, with about 8 pages so far.
95% of the posts claimed that the 1st game was better in every aspect, despite left 4 dead 2 featuring everything the first game had to offer.

This could either be the opinion of the public, or simply because of it being on the left 4 dead 1 forums.

I don't really have an opinion myself, but I want to know the answers of people who go on the forum of the sequal rather than the prequal.

did you know you can play left 4 dead 1 in left 4 dead 2 without installing 1? it's in mutation

As a complete game, Left 4 Dead wins. The Infected design is better, the character design is better, the animations are better, better atmosphere, better sounds. There's less stuff, so the game's tighter. It's an actual zombie apocalypse game as opposed to a zombie action game. There are also fewer signs of Valve laziness in it. The only things Left 4 Dead 2 has over its predecessor are more community life (Valve can be partially blamed for that), easier moddability and melee weapons with the demise of inifinite melee. (And even then melee hitreg is woeful.)

I maintain anyone who claims Left 4 Dead can be fully replicated in Left 4 Dead 2 is trying to sell you a cheap imitation Rolex.

Obviously the l4d1 players are going to say l4d1 is better.

I love how people "forget" the issues with the original game and the endless complaints about the game from back then.

L4D1is the game where you finish every finale defending inside a closet ;-) L4D2 is a bit more versatile than that - mail because of new SI.

As a counterpoint, the holdout spots in the original campaign finales and their forward ports are about the same for most players. No Mercy, rooftop by the radio station since the Jesus Room has been patched out. Death Toll, boathouse by the minigun or on the deck. Dead Air, on top of/by the truck. Blood Harvest, in the farmhouse at the top of the stairs or in the barn on occasion. Crash Course, who plays Crash Course? Sure the new SI shake things up a bit when they land an attack, but the strategies are still roughly the same. At least from my experience, enlighten me otherwise if that isn't the case.

Now that L4D1 is in L4D2, L4D2 wins, but L4D2 alone, the characters and atmosphere are better in L4D1 by a long shot. Also the way the game feels is more...responsive in L4D1.

Nothing more to add. Charger and spitter make all the difference needed. Annoying was also the Death Toll horde event where you just stayed back until horde was over.

However I would like random situations with double hunters or other double SI to mix up the strategies even more.

L4D2. It had better level design, characters with actual personallity, more infected, more modes, melee weapons,A actual story,A few more items, and it was a lot more humorus. im kinda shocked people think the first game is better than 2.

First game had realistic personalities. I am sorry.. but if zombies are trying to kill me, I wont break into a 5 minute story about what my bestfriend did 10 years ago.
Or about what burger I want first.

Levels are ok, but the first game caught the apocolyse factor better. Plus at some points in the first game, you need a flashlight. 99% the second game is so bright you can see everything even indoors.

I agree on melee, I do love my bat.

The SI were better in the first game, actual monsterous. The l4d2 infected.. 1 big arm, and other humps your head, while the chick with the super long throat spits on you.

Tanks were faster if set on fire in the first game, and whichs were more sensitive..

So far, the only things I see that L4d2 did to improve the game, was
D.Eagles(I refuse to say magnums)
Bigger hordes
Melee.

They puss'd the SI, they changed all the left4dead1 levels, and just made it pretty much made it a huge joke balled up into zombies..

(All my opinions of course. Still fun, but first game will always be best to me.)
