Never use shotgun if you play realistic
Or any other mode for that matter, but on realistic your team cant afford to take friendly fire which is what you will inevitably do because 95% of players don't know how to use the shotgun. They panic and spray fire everywhere.

I assume you have some professional statistics, to back up your theory about those 95% players?

It´s the other way around. Some players don´t know that it´s a bad idea to jump in front of a guy who fires a auto shotty.

I use Chrome shotgun alot, never friendly fired on expert or advanced.

Unless a stupid sniper doesn't know how to use it, and for some reason shooting infront of us walking into our shots.

Please be mindful as you're backing up and shooting because a charger or jockey is coming toward you. You keep backing up with your shotgun, eventually you end up behind your team and you shoot THEM in the back. Another tip is to please watch your shotgun fire when trying to free a player from a smoker or hunter. You're trying to snipe with a shotgun but you're just spraying everywhere, including your pinned teammate. People who use shotguns are just pretty much useless and end up dragging the team down. I rather play with the CPU than those players because at least the CPU won't hurt me and knows how to shoot.

Played expert dead center, used chrome shotty whole campaign for fun, hit 1 bot, 1 time, because he went to grab pills as I pulled the trigger

Oh yes, never back up and shoot. A good teammate will be close by you when specials or CI attack, and if they're right behind you and you shoot them, you just kind of negated any cover attempt they were doing.

another big annoyance is when a jockey jumps on you, and you have a dumb teammate standing right beside you trying to shoot the jockey off your head instead of just bumbing you free. This goes for most special infected. You have to be able to anticipate these actions and be ready to melee.

Yep, shove always, shoot second in expert. This is better for SI, CI, and avoiding FF.

You do realize it isn't hard to avoid friendly fire with a shotgun unless you are a completely incompetant ♥♥♥♥♥, right?

It's not like the barrels are sawed off and firing bird shot. The spread isn't much more than the assault rifles on full auto in close combat. You can avoid ff by not running through the line of fire to grab those pills.

Every gun in L4D2 has the accuracy of a sniper so it doesn't really matter
