Why do you care so much about an achievement? It is meaningless and worthless.

They are correct! Most vets don't care about achievements.

Worthless to you guys.
Then there are people who believe a game is completed until all achievements are unlocked.

They add extra challenges. I personally am working on getting them all. (which all I need now are scavenger ones)
I have friends who only play a game, to do achievements, then stop playing it.

Exactly... and whether they have another free weekend or not, will affect their profit for l4d3. Not only for achievement seekers but for those with friends who will not buy the game without trying it. So hate on, haters.

Unless L4D3 comes around in the next six months, you should get a free weekend at some point.
Patience.

I understand some people want to finish their achievements. However, the nature of this achievement is to play during a free weekend, which is designated by Valve's whims. To make a post asking for the developers to "add a free weekend now or delete the achievement" indicates that the person values the achievement way more than they should. It is arbitrary text determined by the developers that does not act as an indication of skill or experience. You do not get a gold star, you do not collect $200 when you pass GO.

Furthermore, while many achievements are meant to act as a 'challenge', you'll find that most achievement hunters would rather find ways to cheese the achievement or plan it within a group than to complete the task in its original spirit whilst normally playing the game.

Many games offer achievements based on holiday events. This is no different. Even if it doesn't occur annually or regularly, it does reoccur. You just need to be ready to play the game during a free weekend when it happens. Making entitlement posts on the forums like the OP just makes you look bad, because it isn't as if you have Valve's attention here.

Want an achievement to work on? Here is one to do:

Personally, I don't care about the good guy nick achievement, it involves no skill, no work, just playin on a certain day. I'm simply saying, some people wanna complete a game 100%.

And I'm not sure what is on the link, but I never am interested in other Unofficial achievements unless it is my own.

Why not give the game a demo then like it had before?
