"Full" Gamepad Support? More like "Partial" (This also applies to L4D)
While the gamepad support in this game is functional, it's not what I would call "full". For instance, I can't select the lobby filter options without the aid of a mouse. There is no force feedback (Half Life 2 has this on PC), there are no auto aim options, and there are no options for a form of acceleration for the analog sticks. These features are quite prelevant among FPS games that make use of a gamepad. Even without those options, I still don't like having to use a mouse to filter lobbies, kind of defeats the purpose of "Full" gamepad support, which I'm pretty sure means not having to use a keyboard or mouse, and controlling every aspect of the game with a gamepad.

"There are no auto aim options" well this isn't a console game you might have to actually aim to kill things.

I don't use auto aim personally, but these options are usually available on other games with gamepads. Half Life 2 on PC has it enabled when using a gamepad. Besides, L4D and L4D2 were on the Xbox 360.

I used a gamepad for a bit on here, so far works great minus 1 thing. the rotating is weird. You hold it longer than a second and you spin out of control way too fast.

Even if you turn the settings all the way down. plus you have to reset all controls everytime you re-enter the game.

as for auto aim, you don't need it if you are a console player.

Here is an example of what I'm talking about. Serious Sam HD: TSE isn't a console game (the 360 port came out a few months later), yet it has great options for gamepads. L4D and L4D2 were on the 360. Why can't those options be on the PC?

Because valve didn't want to put it.

Correct me if I am wrong. The XBOX 360 version of L4D 2 has NO auto - aim as well. Or did they add this in recently? I have played the XBOX 360 version as well. But it was LONG ago.

Not that I saw when I played..
Don't need it, any auto aim would equal aimbot, which is cheating.

All you need for good aim is your 2 thumbs and a trigger finger that is not so happy.

Yes I 100% agree auto aim should not be in any F.P.S game. But I think Agent Slacker's point is that these options existed in other F.P.S games. But not in L4D 2.

The 360 port had very slight autoaim when using the hunting rifle or when killing a special infected. Again, I don't use it, but it's usually an option.

Only FPS I saw with some auto aim, was on call of duty zombies, if you left the setting on(which I didn't, was a freakin pain)

But auto-aim is normally whewn you aim down the sight(unlike aimbotting) Left4dead has no ironsight view so it wouldn't really fit.
Some games like CS (1.6 and i think source, not sure about GO) and hl 1/2 had it, But it just put the crosshair over the enemy/character. You would still have to aim and manage your shooting as the recoil would disrupt that aim. (except HL cause there was like 0 recoil whatsoever if I recall.)

I think it all boils down to imbalances between players using m/k and players using pads. in competetive games, players using pads will pretty much always lose out if they dont have any form of aim assist as pc players generally have much more precise aiming. now l4d2 main game is coop but it does have a competetive section, this must be the reason aim assist was left out. they should have it enabled in campaign missions and not enabled in versus so pad players can at least enjoy themselves while zombie slaying.
