I don't think it is....I think people need to stop griefing & etc in games when they can't have their way.
Just play with friends, play singleplayer, or Campaign. Stay away from Pub Verses.

Yeah, it's not that much different from basically any online game with a competetive element - People tend to use their monitor cover to fly off the hook, doing and saying things they would usually not dare to do or say to your face.
(That last part is weird, now that I read it, but I'll leave it like that - maybe someone gets a laugh out of it)

But I agree that L4D2 seems to attract a certain kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I have found versus to be a mixed bag. A fair number of the people in my friends list came from playing versus and scavange. My entire block list (45 people) comes from versus. In terms of cyberbullying, if you don't like it; leave that game. If you get a "umadbrah?" group invite; decline and block the user.

Yeppers, if you can't take it then disconnect from the web altogether, it can sometimes get pretty bad if you can't take the words.

Most of the things that happen on L4D are analogous to the things that happen in local parks and gyms regarding handball/basketball courts. You cannot simply walk onto a court and join any random pick-up game. If you have a reputation for being an awful player, you will not be picked last, you simply wont be asked back to play again. And yes, you often hear very similar trash talking going on or simple refusals by players who would rather not play with or against you.

Cyber-bullying is not something that occurs in a competitive setting like an online video game. At worse, someone spams your inbox with random group invites. Nobody is stalking you or preventing you from performing virtual or real-life activities. If you think you're being cyber-bullied in a video game, I suggest you unplug and talk to a counselor about it.

+1

However I have seen IRL stalking/doxing/harasssment go on as well as DDOS booters being used in the VS scene.

This please.

Play with friends or learn the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ maps by yourself so people with ♥♥♥♥ skill level don't join expert public lobbies and attempt to know everything. More or less, before actually playing public, play every single campaign on at least normal once by yourself offline so you have general experience. People won't be inclined to trash talk other people if you actually know what you are doing.

I love how you word things its always just right. I also like how even though I know you dont agree with alot that goes on in the community you both see why it happens and realize its really not a big deal and were not these terrible people were made out to be. Just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that have completely different ideas of whats fun across many aspects of what it is to play a game such as this.
