.vpk files changed after L4D2 install.
Hi, I have a couple questions about when I installed L4D2.

1. In All my Source game folders .vpk files are known as Source Add On files for me, and appear with a small Steam icon, is this because L4D2 uses a type of add on system?

2. For example if I double click one, lets say a HL2 vpk I get an error message, followed by the Windows alert "did this program install correctly". What I should I do, should I say it did or use the reccomended settings? It tells me this for addoninstaller.exe in the L4D2 folder.

That's normal.
vpk (valve package file) are valve's version of zip format. To see what's inside them, use gcfscape program to extract. It is use because faster loading and files are in one place oppose to multiple directories. L4D2 has a built-in addon system (addoninstaller.exe) that allows you to double click the vpk and it will copy itself to the appropriate folder. (I never do that, I just copy and paste the vpk itself into the addons folder manually). Even if other source game uses vpk, you can't really just open it because incompatible vpk version or it isnt the right format use for l4d2.

Does that make sense?
