I keep getting an error, "connection failed after 10 retries".. how do I fix this?
Valve really should have had different difficulty modes for Versus, so all the elitist jerks would go to the hardest mode and we could play PvP without them. But everyone is rolled in together, so you're going to get newbs that suck, casuals that simply play for fun, and elitists that can't handle losing, all in the same games.
In effect, this would make things worse because the true jerkwads would happily abuse that system, too.
What we really need for versus is not difficulty levels.
But casual/competetive levels like in CS:GO. (Although cs:go did a rather poor job at this)
Casual versus:
• No friendly fire
• No votekicking
• Unranked
(For players who are new or just want to play for fun)
Competetive versus:
• Friendly fire
• Votekicking
• Ranked
(For players who want a bit of a challenge)
Elite versus:
• Same as competetive...but with a few more features:
+ Can only be accessed by people with a longer playtime
+ Health kits & defibs are not available. Only pain pills.
+ Survivor glow is disabled
+ Friendly fire is equivilant to that of expert
(For players who are considered to be elitists)
This way, everyone could play versus happily.
Sadly, the game is dead. And there is more of a chance valve would incorporate this into left 4 dead 2 episode 1 (we know valve can't count to 3) than it being added to left 4 dead 2.
Like playing team sport, some people are happy as long as it's a good exercise while some people enjoy high level competition. So I understand if the majority think I'm not fitted for their intended game.
And don't take getting kicked too serious. Sometimes they just try to bring someone in, sometimes you can get kicked by worse players too for doing right things, and more often than I like there are people with trolling nature. I do hope people can show some manner and tell the reason for vote kick, but hey, it's internet.
