Why do people take online so seriously?
I joined a quick match game of Scavenge and there was this man named Aubrey who I guess was with a bunch of his friends. So eventually he votekicked me just cause I wasn't doing too well. This is NOT whining, I'm just curious to why.

Certain players act different around other players. Just find a new group to play with. I have it if you want to hit me up on it.

I know this is a random question, but nobody seems to be answering my question..

I keep getting an error, "connection failed after 10 retries".. how do I fix this?

It's called elitism, where people expect professional level play from random strangers out of pug. Despite how illogical this is, it's very common. When they don't get this, they get mad and vote kick you. Majority vote is very easy to get when they have friends on the other slots or other elitists that are just as happy about doing it. This is why you shouldn't have a vote kick system in games. It isn't about right or wrong, reason or excuse, it's about majority vote. It's abused far more often than not. The same thing was a common problem in WoW, where being vote kicked was common even if you weren't playing badly. Everyone was a ♥♥♥♥ to each other, including you, and if you didn't suck on it, you'd get the boot thanks to majority vote. I would get vote kicked out of dungeons before the final boss just so they could bring in a friend to come take MY rewards that I worked the whole dungeon for.

Valve really should have had different difficulty modes for Versus, so all the elitist jerks would go to the hardest mode and we could play PvP without them. But everyone is rolled in together, so you're going to get newbs that suck, casuals that simply play for fun, and elitists that can't handle losing, all in the same games.

That would only work up to a point, sadly. Then you would see those elitists dropping to certain levels on purpose, because they are by far not as good as they like to pose. So they would "farm" lower levels for easy kills and roflstomping. Because they mostly know fully well that they would have to work really, really hard to stand a chance in the highest levels against "professionals", if they stand a chance at all.
In effect, this would make things worse because the true jerkwads would happily abuse that system, too.

What we really need for versus is not difficulty levels.

But casual/competetive levels like in CS:GO. (Although cs:go did a rather poor job at this)

Casual versus:

• No friendly fire
• No votekicking
• Unranked

(For players who are new or just want to play for fun)

Competetive versus:

• Friendly fire
• Votekicking
• Ranked

(For players who want a bit of a challenge)

Elite versus:

• Same as competetive...but with a few more features:
+ Can only be accessed by people with a longer playtime
+ Health kits & defibs are not available. Only pain pills.
+ Survivor glow is disabled
+ Friendly fire is equivilant to that of expert

(For players who are considered to be elitists)

This way, everyone could play versus happily.

Sadly, the game is dead. And there is more of a chance valve would incorporate this into left 4 dead 2 episode 1 (we know valve can't count to 3) than it being added to left 4 dead 2.

I'm all for vote kicking someone who's trolling or throws a can off the roof in "No Mercy" though.

I 100% agree. I laugh when a troll comes back into my game. And asks me " What did I do that was wrong? ". LOL at trying to deny griefing / trolling. Then we vote kick them again.

I'm still a relatively fresh versus player but I'll try to answer you why.

Like playing team sport, some people are happy as long as it's a good exercise while some people enjoy high level competition. So I understand if the majority think I'm not fitted for their intended game.

And don't take getting kicked too serious. Sometimes they just try to bring someone in, sometimes you can get kicked by worse players too for doing right things, and more often than I like there are people with trolling nature. I do hope people can show some manner and tell the reason for vote kick, but hey, it's internet.

Yeah, that reminds me when I almost got kicked for waiting on a rooftop for the right moment to shoot acid at the survivors.

Why do people take online so seriously? Because they have no real life and they live through gaming.
