Good luck? L4D2 goes on sale more than any other game (at least, that's how it feels.) The constant influx of players in their first day/week heading straight in to versus and ruining teams/griefing is ever on the rise.
Hell, the game did indeed go on sale last weekend or so. So he'll only have to wait another week or two and it will be on sale again.

probably but he never really wanted it until i convinced him how good it was

It's worth every penny even at it's current price. I would happily pay the full price, but it so happens, that i purchased it when there was a discount. However, I purchased it at full price for a friend and gifted it to her and 1300 hours later I can say both myself, and friend have more than had our moneys worth out of the game.

Gift it for your friend. Put a smile on his/her face. :P
