Left 4 Dead 2
L4D2 vs. CS:GO
I need advice from someone who has played both Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Left 4 Dead 2. I can only get one of them right now so I must ask, which is better? They are both good for their own reasons, but I need some legitimate reasons from you all for which one I should buy right now. I won't be able to buy the second game until Christmas, so take this seriously! So please, if you would, which is better to get right now, and why?

None of my friends own either, but if I get it, they will end up buying it so we can play together, and we all like both and need a reason for why we should get which one first. If someone buys one of them, that could help.

They're both pretty solid games if you ask me.

Tbh, I think the question you should ask yourself is:
- What kind of game am I looking for, a Zombie themed Cooperative Shooter (an overall less competitive game) or a Team-based arcade First-Person Shooter (which is by definition a lot more competitive than L4D2).

Left 4 Dead 2 might be a little easier to get into. Talking about survivor play, the guns are all easy to handle since there's basically non-existing recoil in any of them. But L4D2 is an extremely team dependant game (talking about Versus mode). You'll have to rely on your team-mates a lot in other to survive and do well (in the long term).

Counter-Strike: GO on the other hand is also a team-based shooter, but it requires a lot of practise to be really good at (tho this depends on the person of course). Each gun have it's own recoil pattern and it takes a lot of skill to use most of the guns efficiently. Doing well isn't that important tho, since the game is not as cooperative as L4D2, so as long as you kill the enemy you're doing your part and you're helping the team. In the end it pays off.

I prefer L4D2 over CS:GO because I like the cooperative aspect about it. Plus, I always enjoyed films and games with zombies.
But they're both great games tho and are easily worth their price. You can't go wrong with any choice here.

Yeah, I understand that. Guess I'll just get CS since it's cheaper, and get L4D2 some other time. Like you said, how can I go wrong? Thanks!

You welcome. :boomer:
I hope you have a good time on CS:GO with all your buds. The game got Workshop support aswell. You might want to check that out.

Yeah, but I also asked what's the difference between the two CS games, and not much came up. What's your opinion?

CS:S is more of a quake three/DOOM deathmatch-y half life two shooter. While CS:GO is raging in popularity with tournaments, skins, and much more.

I do like Quake/Doom, but someone said the game is dead (no one plays). Is that true?
The core gameplay remained the same in the jump from CS:Source to CS:GO. The recoil and "feel" on some of the weapons was changed a little and GO have improved graphics.

There's not much to be told. GO is still Counter-Strike, just with a new coat of paint (not like that's a bad thing... if the formula still works, why change it, right?)

You won't be able to get the second game until Christmas? That's bananas. Just wait until L4D2 goes on sale again, as it often does.

No, not at all. SOMETIMES it is dead. Right now it has 13,000 people playing it, while CS:GO has 90K. The game is still raging in popularity, but I'd get CS:GO instead, the community went a bit...well.....idiot mode.
3 guys replied? That was quick. Thanks for the help!
L4D2 goes on sale all the time. I think they even had a free weekend for St. Paddys.
