Or the guy with the keyboard doesn't pause every 10 seconds to type something unimportant. I don't mind,
1. Push-to-talk disabled while TV/fan/noise is in background. Instante votekick/mute.
2. Blasting music while playing. We don't need to hear your Miley Cyrus.
3. Raging with incoherent profanities. If a random person on the internet can get you mad to the point that you feel you need to raise your voice, you lose at life.
4. Small talk/idle conversation between strangers. I don't care about your cat, your kids, or your husband.
For the most part, I prefer people who use mics, and I have more of a problem with people who do not use mics or cannot hear those who do. If something is communicated via voice chat and you do not respond and you ignore it, then that is a problem. The biggest issue that this game is heavily reliant on sound for hearing incoming attacks and not getting capped by an SI, so voice chatter should be kept to a minimum, and conversation other than conveying game-relevant information should occur between SI spawns.
I've lost count of the number of times I've died two feet from a teammate while saying on the mic "I'm smoked. I'm smoked. I'm smoked. I'm smoked. I'm smoked," only to get a written reply a minute later "Sorry didn't know you were smoked."
i hardly notice the typing until it's going away. if i call out a med kit and no one comes i assume they are playing with no sound.
as for convo, it's fun when you get people who joke around. i don't like having to be serious all the time in the game. sometimes we are laughing so hard we all die. but you gotta have the right group of people for that.
On the other end of the spectrum, I can't stand people who spam their mics. Idle conversations, music, background noise, profanity.... for me, all are insta mute. Which is a shame because I never know if they may say something relevent to the game or not later on. The only time I tend to let it go is if it's me and a friend and we're playing purely for the sake of just messing around and being idiots (which is usually done in a private game). But when I want to play a game normally, the only things I care for are relevent information to the game and casual joking (and I mean joking.... not trolling).
All that being said, I cannot express how much it frustrates me when people don't pay attention to mic users who are trying to convey important information. I'm a little indifferent when it comes to items... if people don't want to pick them up, then so-be-it. If they die, it's because they chose to ignore me. If they're experienced to the point where they don't need it, then good for them. But when it comes to things like being attacked by SI, then I expect someone to respond BEFORE I'm dead.
1) The tactical player
• Tells his teammates where items are, gives them advice, and helps lead the group
+ good
2) The friends
• Have irrelevant and usually comedic conversations with eachother
+ If conversation is funny, passable
- If conversation is awkward, strange, or loud, bad
3) The dirty mic
• Tries to say something but can't because their mic is broken or their mouth is too close.
- painful
4) The rager
• Appears as the "tactical" player at first glance, but starts getting mad when someone makes a mistake. They can usually be detectedby having a higher ego.
- bad
5) The wallflower
• Has a mic, but only uses it when they are about to be kicked/trolled
+ good
6) The spammer
• A random person who uses the mic who happens to be a kid
+ if the kid is nice, then passable
- if the kid is whiny or cocky, painful.
5) The DJ
• Plays music into the mic
+ if music is from death note, attack on the titan, zelda, or silent hill, good
+ if music is classic rock, good
- if music is anything else, bad
My ideal team is:
• Myself
• A non mic user
• A tactical player
• And a death note DJ
If I'm in a game where the other three people are mic'd, or a high stakes game where keyboard isn't sufficient, then I'll mic up no problem. But typically I'm good with the occasional keyboard message.
(Move = "Wait", "You take the lead", "Follow Me", "Stay Together" etc;
Speed = "Let's Go", "Be Careful", "Hurry", "Run!" etc;
Mood = "Thanks", "You're Welcome", "Good Job", "Laugh"; and
Warnings = "Look!", "Tank!", "Witch!" etc).
Contains pretty much everything I'd ever say on mic anyway.
But I love that pig in that movie.. :( was a good family classic..
Gasp!
