It's hard to outrun the Tank
They Tank spawns, i shoot at him while i move backwards in a open areal and there are always some annoying thing behind me after 10 seconds (trees, walls, barriers, stairs and etc.) which means that i am caught so the Tank are able to kill me. How do other people avoid these kind of situations?

apparently tanks can outrun anyone at 40 or lower.
and if you turn at all it gets closer, so you need to pretty much stay in a straight line.

But for me, I like to find things like fences, get behind them (like the passing finale) and have him climb over it over and over while i shoot.

Stay above 40 hp, and don't run into "annoying things" behind you (trees, walls, barriers, stairs, etc). Running backwards is a very important skill to practice in this game, and requires a good sense of direction and mental mapping skills. Also, you can occasionally turn around to see where you're going if you're unsure. You can kite tanks indefinitely as long as you're above 40 health and as long as there is something to kite it around, not counting hittable objects.

I am just worried that my team will leave me for dead to the hordes, if i run too long away while the tank are hunting me.

if your team is a good team, they wont leave you unless it would be a big risk to save you.

The best way for me to deal with tanks is to get a molotov and kite the tank into a big open area with little obstacles. If you can set a tank on fire, you can run and the fire will deal with the tank, plus having medium/long range weapons to dish out extra damage from a safe distance.

When I am kiting tanks, being able to flick the mouse to turn 180 to check my environment helps alot. If the tank is chasing me and getting too close, I rely of my team to attack him while I dont worry about shooting him, I just focus on getting away unharmed.
Having a bile on hand might help the tank lose track of you.
If I know the map I am on has alot of obstacles, I worry about them and then the tank, but if no obstacles, I focus on the tank :)
Hopefully this gives you some help/ideas ^_^

It's really quite easy to outrun tanks. Bile bombs will slow them down if you happen to have one equiped which will send a horde of infected to attack it thus slowing it downs. Fencing, steps of any kind slows it down as it climbs the obstacles giving you a good chance to plug a few shots while you move out of the vicinity of the tank.

Vehicles - Which can't be knocked down by the tank allows you to clircle them giving you time (buses especially) as the tank will normally waste time climing on the roof while you get the chance (and your team) to kill it.

If you see a team mate cornered by a tank you have 5-10 seconds to get in some melee hits in if your close enough since the tank will concerntrate on them till they are knocked down.

Of course, running in and out of buildings and alleyways buys you time to shoot him once he stops to hurl a rock at you but those are a few things that helps buy you time and your team to bring the tank down in a few seconds.

Keep your health in the green. As for obstacles, you h ave to avoid them. Turn around once in awhile. Your mouse sensitivity should be high enough to turn with ease.

Also, along with keeping your health topped so you can outrun him.

Make sure to grab a tier two assault rifle (M16, Ak47, Scar) to fight against him if you can. The tank is actually able to accelerate and outrun players if you try to kite him without shooting. The assault rifles however slow him down when he's shot and keeps him from accelerating, making it easier to kite him.

Molotov the tank if you can as well, the fire will deal constant heavy damage to him and can kill him in 20 seconds on his own.
Also be careful of other specials like the smoker, hunter, charger, or jockey when you're kiting. If one of them gets you, you're probably going to die, esspecially if you ran away from your team when you kited the tank.

I used to have this problem. What you have to do is focus more on securing your escape route than you do shooting it. Turn around and gauge how much distance you can run back while shooting before you run into something. Run backward and shoot for as long as you can until you are about at the last obstacle you saw, then get around it, secure a new escape route, en so on. In a lot of situations (like if the tank is lit, or alternatively, if the tank is after you and there are other players shooting it.) it is more helpful to yourself and everyone else to make sure he doesn't hit you than to shoot it all the time. If you can shoot him and you know he can't hit you, great, watch for those situations as obviously everyone needs to be doing as much damage to the tank as they can in most situations. Also, ALWAYS look for something that you can put inbetween him and you to absorb the concrete he throws. I would say from what I have seen, players are more often downed by the concrete than his actual punches.

Whats funny. If timed and thrown right. hit him with a pipebomb, he stumbles, then surround him with melee weapons and beat him to death. XD

Best way to kill a witch. hit a pipe under her, then when she is off balance, melee her back, over and over, right into your friends shotgun for a epic crown.

Pop some adrenaline. Just remember when you light the tank on fire he runs a bit faster so that adds a bit more to the challenge of getting away from him.
