The most embarrassing thing you have ever done in L4D 2?
Blows up whole entire team on mistake.

If you tried the witch + gasoline + door = safe way to kill her, you get the witch on fire, with the cost of your whole entire team.

Mine was on L4D1 still... went with a group of Russians who were talking over the mics, didn't understand a thing but thought "ah well I know my way around the game, I'll be fine". Somehow, everything I did failed somehow... didn't hit infected, got stuck etc.
Then we somehow got attacked badly, one of the guys was really bashed up; we had no medkits but I had pills. They were surrounding me, talking into the mics, obviously wanting me to hand over the pills; I was like, "ha at last a chance to show I know what I'm doing". Select the pills, push the wrong mouse button, take them myself... They were laughing so hard.
Quit the game, face hanging in shame...

I think my worst moments like that all involve trying to throw a pipe bomb out of a glass window that's coded not to break on impact.

Seriously, like 95% of the windows in the game can be broken by thrown objects. Then there's that remaining 5% that exist purely to spite you. I've had a few times we were in a building, triggered a horde, I went to throw a pipe bomb out the nearest window, and the bomb just bounced off the glass, landed right back at our feet, and promptly exploded in our faces.

My story isn't as dramatic as all of yours. The worst thing I've done is accidentally shooting my teammate to death. Thankfully, he didn't notice and assumed it was the infected.

I think most of us have done that at some point, especially if you ever play on Expert. Nothing like having someone walk directly in front of you right as you fire a hunting rifle, promptly knocking off half their health. If it's a shotgun, that can potentially be it for them right there.

People running into my line of fire is one of the things that annoys me most, and most constantly. I find myself doing it from time to time too although I try to be conscious about it, so I can't really blame them.
Worse yet if I'm on Sniper scope (yes I do use it from time to time to clear areas up ahead), because that robs me of every opportunity for me to avoid firing.

I know what you mean. The VAST majority of my friendly fire hits are because of the victim running or jumping directly into my field of fire, often while I'm already firing. It doesn't even matter what difficulty I play on, it just perpetually happens.

not embarrassing for me.. but for some kid I was playing with. I like playing normal usually or advanced.
(expert is too much for my bots.)

Some new kid(saw his hours, he had like 3 total) joined, I didnt kick him because.. It was normal who cares. Doesn't take too much brain to survive in normal.
I like to crouch, I like the slow pace plus your aim is increased.

Had him screaming at me whole level "Only a noob would crouch on normal, Learn to aim better"..whole level. Kid was friendly firing crap out of everyone just running and gunning with a damn sniper rifle..

which is a another reason, public games should be avoided..

I cant pick a particular embarassment, i did so many. :)

But i remember one which wasnt me: we were playing versus, all of us friends.
Swamp Fever, first map by the ferry.
Our tank spawned at the other side, the other team threw a molotov on him so he was on fire.
We told the player to "go into the water" to put out the fires, on that map there are plenty water in the swamp.

Guess what our tank did: she went towards the ferry, jumped into the river dying instantly.
I can only guess how embarassing that was to the tank player, she said she heard the advice and went for the nearest water source...

Very embarassing thing a kid did yesterday. He was a total noob who was destroying us with his grenade launcher. I swear, he took at least 25 of my health, just in friendly fire, in 5 min.
Anyway, the kid suddenly goes AFK (because it is so hard to press esc=> take a break, right?), and I proceed to start a vote kick on him. He comes back right at this moment and proceeds to try to kill me... with a grenade launcher... I had the autoshotgun.... Mou ha ha ha... He died 1 second befre he got kicked. Lesson learned.

The stories are so funny xD I did so many common mistakes too and extremely stupid ones ^^;;;

All of us was in a small room, I attempted to throw a molotov out the door but I screwed up my aiming and threw it againts the wall. Ended burned my whole team in the room :/
