Hunting Rifle and Sniper Rifle
What are the exact differences between them?
Besides the obvious, such as the 30 rounds for the sniper rifle.

In my relatively limited experience, the hunting rifle always seems tighter to control,
and that the 15 round magazine ended up feeling about the same because I'd miss
more often with the sniper rifle.

Am I hallucinating?

umm i think it can knock back special infected, which the hunting rifle one cant do, it is slightly less accurate and it holds more max ammo (210 to the hunting rifles 165)

Wow, it stumbles special infected? That alone might be enough reason to use the sniper over the hunting rifle all the time, for me.

hunting rifle has better accuracy when moving(not amazing but smaller spread)

But I think (not sure) the military is stronger.

Yeah, it's mainly just the clip size and the accuracy when running. The sniper rifle is very inaccurate on the run but it's not a issue when standing still or scoping in.

The hunting rifle's crosshair is a lot smaller, so it's a lot more accurate on the run.

Honestly to me it doesn't really matter to me, since l4d2 is a game where snipers can walk foward while scoped shooting hordes to death.

i just walk while looking down the scope lol. pop heads while moving.

Both weapons do the exact same damage per shot. The hunting rifle is slightly more accurate while moving. Beyond that, the only difference is the clip size.

This in mind, which would you recommend for general use?
Hordes, Specials, Tanks, that sort of thing.

Cause it sounds like the sniper rifle is better for that sort of thing.

horde, id say have a decent secondary. tank, military..

I can knock most health out the tank with a military before it reachs us,.

谢谢您
thank you for the advice

not having played modes beyond normal realism difficulty (mostly because i usually have two bots and they're dumb as bricks) means that I don't really get pressed for most effective strategy

The hunting rifle is better for players who enjoy staying mobile and are skilled at ammo conservation. The sniper rifle is for those players who like camping and who are not so great at aim. I personally recommend using the hunting rifle, because of the versatility that comes with movement. You can learn to aim better to conserve ammo or reload at better opportunities. It is the more "skillful" weapon, whereas the sniper rifle is more spray and pray while camping, which takes far less ability on the player's part.

Against hordes and specials, the difference is minimal. Against a tank however, you'll probably want a sniper rifle because of the clip size.

I don't know, but I love Sniper Rifle to kill tank and smoker.

While I'm here, instead of creating a new discussing and wasting space,
what's the general concensus on double pistols vs. the more powerful handgun and blades?

I'm glad that someone posts this. I do prefer hunting rifle to the military sniper and I don't know if I'm nuts. Maybe less recoil?

Double Pistols vs Deagle vs Melee

Dual pistols are more useful on lower difficulties (and on versus) where common die easily. Deagle is great for higher difficulties and for realism, to kill common in a single hit. Melee is preferred for crescendo events where you must fight through waves of horde. There really is no "optimal" weapon choice for a single person, because any decent team would take into consideration the entire team's weapon selection depending on their playstyle; whether they like staying close together or spreading out more.

That said, usually the deagle is reserved for shotgun users, and melee weapons are usually better for people who use rifles for the obvious reason of having one weapon effective at long range and one weapon effective at close quarter combat.

Most typical loadouts at high difficulties would be
1. shotgun + deagle
2. SMG/automatic rifle + melee
3. either sniper rifle + either deagle or melee

Though for specific situations such as crescendo events, everyone might want to use a melee weapon. You really only need to have one deagle per team. It can save teams during situations with multiple incaps, since you can clear an SI off a teammate more easily than if you had a single or dual pistols.

If you can aim worth a damn, the only real difference between the two is the magazine capacity. If you're firing on the move at targets far enough away for the very minimal difference in targeting reticles to be a factor, you should probably just be using the scope anyway which removes the accuracy difference entirely.

I personally prefer the Magnum over a double pistol, but that's mostly because the Magnum penetrates targets similarly to the hunting rifle. Makes it a great anti-horde weapon since hordes generally all spawn from one location and tend to charge from one direction. Only downside (other than the limited capacity and reload times, naturally) is that if you're incapped, you can no longer aim effectively and your reticle becomes HUGE. Using a pistol (or pair of them) while incapped isn't that bad in general, but doing it with a Magnum makes it virtually impossible to hit anything further than 10 feet away, and even that's a stretch.

Comparing dual pistols to a melee weapon is really situational, it's not a matter of one just being better than the other. Personally I usually take a melee weapon over a pair of pistols.
