What is the best secondary weapon in your opinion?

I always take the Magnum as soon as I find it. In my opinion the hierarcy is like this. Pistol/two pistols > melee weapon > Magnum. Magnum has the stopping power you need but it is a ranged weapon unlike melee.

I pretty much have the same priorities as you. Pistol>Dual Pistols>Melee>Magum. I do also mix it up sometimes, If I'm using a shotgun, I'll hold onto dual pistols over melee, mainly so I can have a longer rage alternative. Magnum trumps all though. Live saver when you're incapped, and still pretty accurate while you're incapped as well. Dual pisols in that state can't hit anything further than 2 feet away.. (reliably)

Once I killed a hunter from the ground with my Magnum. I realized later how impressive that was because I was lucky he didn't ground-pounce me before I got him. It was right outside the safe room in chapter 4 of Dark Carnival. Because I blew away the hunter, the only un-incapped player decided it was safe to leave the saferoom and get us up, which he or she did successfully. On good ol' advanced too! :) That's how wonderful that gun is. Also, I get sick of drawing a melee weapon when I most clearly need a projectile handgun in order to kill a special. (Note that I am a big fan of the age-old FPS "pistol trick" where as an alternative to reloading your primary weapon, you take out your secondary(which is much faster than reloading and makes the tactic potentially more effective if you are currently in a firefight.)

I choose my secondary based on how well in game im doing.

If im doing well and making good progress then i take a melee to keep up my pace. If im doing bad and taking more damage than i should i take a D'Eagle for the ground cover. Sometimes the type of ground cover you provide can make or break the game for you and your team.

Yeah your < > are backwards. Different weapons for different uses, if you're in a very closed map having a melee is useful, if you're with a long range teammate, or if you have a lot of events ahead of you. Magnums are good with few hordes, if you or your teammates have something short range to defend with, and in open maps.

The magnum, because you can still make a big difference when you are downed. Especially in versus, i have seen the game saved because incapaciated people took out the specials with their magnums.

Without the pack(I'm being serious)? Melee, ESPECIALLY the Katana!

Normal/Easy-- dualies, because you can take out whole mobs with them ezpz.

Advanced-- tossup between magnum and melee, depending on my primary. Melees actually feel a bit more useful, because although the magnum is a scripted kill for commons (they will always die if it), it's not always instant and they can do a bit of damage or even charge you while bleeding out.

Expert-- magnum magnum magnum. If they're in melee range, you're toast, and the regular pistols might as well be firing blanks.

Well, that's what I think, anyways. Different people, different playstyles, and of course Versus is another animal entirely.

When using shotgun I go with pistols / magnum, when using a automatic rifle I use a melee weapon
