You ask who else? I ask, have you searched the hundreds, if not thousands of game crash threads listed here. They contain the solutions for many issues as well, which would probably help you more than the responses you're going to get to your vague rant you posted.

if it wasn't random, i might have some info. It just freezes up. i've been playing this game for a long time. Only started happening recently.

Does this crash just feezes your charcter and the map like flicks basiclly looks like it's skipping. I just encountered that twice first time was about to enter a safe room and it pushed me out and put me into this table then my screen was flicking and skipping. 2nd time was someone was reviving me the bar which tell you how long them have left to you can get up wasn't going as smooth, also wouldn't let me be revived. When ALT + Tab and checked the task manager the left4dead2.exe was still running but the memory was 1,000,000k + i was really scared and had to End the Task.

I've had the same issue just start popping up on my laptop yesterday. It's a windows 8 laptop, and I've been playing l4d2 on it for years without issue. Suddenly last night, after playing for about ~5 minutes on a map, it crashes to desktop with no error message or warning.

Is this similar to your crash?

It doesn't occur on my win7 desktop. I havent updated drivers or anything on that laptop or made any hardware changes i can think of.

More info is needed. PC specs is one and the error if any is 2. With out that info, its a shot in the dark what it could be.

Yep it is absolutely like that. I'll be playing for a good while, and then suddenly either it freezes the screen,no flickering just a freeze, no mouse reponse or anything, or it goes straight to desktop.
