How to avoid joining any moded servers
There should be an option you want to join a moded or not. I know i can pick best dedicated or something but some servers are decent and not as trashy as XPM servers.

There are a couple server browser mods out there that allegedly let you blacklist servers so you won't join them again. You can also ask admins for bans from their servers, I know DLR servers have this feature.

Don't they still show up in the browser, even if you are banned? A filter option would be a better solution.

Use openserverbrowser in console to get the server browser then you can flick over to custom and filter by the tag "official" or "pinion" or whatever. Correct that you can request ban from DLR if that is what you want just by saying so in your next post.

Generally just not hitting the "quick match me into a random server" button will prevent you from joining a random server.

The game needs a blacklist feature, it is way overdue.

The option of using the server browser to avoid modded servers is not sufficient for most ppl as it is not "easy or accessible" for most "joe blows" and sometimes servers are not tagged properly or named properly with no clear indication of what a client will get themself into upon joining.

being banned or banning a user is also not a realistic choice, since when a client joins via lobby or serverbrowser the server still shows in both and it isn't until the client trys to join they receive the msg "steamid xx.xxxx.xx is banned see blah blah for further details)

There is a method where you can ban servers via ip though through your client but this again is not for "joe blow" as it is akward for them, same if using your host file to block server ip's.

FYI - i run a few modded servers and can attest to being annoyed by "omg modded wtf, blah blah" etc as a long time admin it is annoying and boring, but i also know as a client it is frustrating and valve really need to implement the "blacklist" feature other source engine games employ. And the client deserves the right to have a choice, not be arbitrated to by invisible walls or 3rd party banning etc.

It would be good if all modded servers notified you of such at the welcome / splash screen stage, so at least a decision can be made before interrupting someone's game. Some do, some don't.

Myne do and i tag them also, but still the main thing is that clients should eb allowed to blacklist them for the reasons i mention in the post above yours.
