Does anyone know if NVIDIA drivers help this game run better?
I was just curious. One of the suggestions for low paged pool memory is uninstalling un-neccessary drivers. Now, I have found that I can play a single player and an online multiplayer without my NVIDIA driver, but certain aspects of the game seemed to be *slightly* choppier. But this could be because I had not set my PC to disable unnecessary background items. One of those said items was my NVIDIA driver, so not sure if un-installing it did any good, although it did seem to effect my overall graphics and increase my minimum resolution in control panel. Does anyone know if those drivers actually HELP Left 4 Dead 2 run smoother and with more OS paged pool memory? Again, thank you greatly to the steam community for your continued support regarding my issues with this game. I feel like if I had a little extra burst of paged pool, I might've been able to get through the WHOLE level of the Parish without having to start on chapter 2 or 3.(I run out after the car park, in the graveyard.)

They do, i use 315M but BE CAREFUL the last stable nVidia driver is 314.22.
For me anything above that causes system freeze and crash rendering the whole computer useless and in need of formating.

Also, i formated my computer like 8 times until i finally got the drivers was the problem which is confirmed by the nVidia community but NOT by nVidia itself.

Furthermore, you say you can play without your nvidia drivers, so you have two graphic cards? One built-in? If so you have to choose that the nVidia card is being used and not the other one. I have Intel-HD built in my laptop.

Which should I download if I am on windows XP media center edition 2005? Surely not one too advanced.

Whew... thankfully, for some reason my NVIDIA drivers are still intact, still exactly where they should be in my programs. Don't know why deleting it didn't seem to take but I am glad it didn't.

It might help if you post your full pc specs that way it will be easier to help you.
Also xp is pretty out dated maybe upgrade to windows 7 not vista, vista sucks.
How much system ram you got?
How much video ram you got?
Is your video card a pci-e agp or onboard?

Unfortunately I do not know any of those things and I have been researching, such as on wikipedia and I can only find out how much ram is required(which is 256MB). Not sure how to check how much I have left, or how ot check my video card.

Also, small off-topic question, do I need high Definition Audio Driver Package KB8888111, or will just the realtek high definition audio driver be enough?(For that matter if you know of any standard drivers on XP MCE 2005 that I DON'T need, please feel free to suggest them.) Anything anyone knows of to make this game work better WITHOUT getting a new OS is ideal, any tricks or trouble shots. I looked at the advanced section of the paged pool memory exhaustion page and I couldn't make sense of it. Sorry I know this maybe should be posted elsewhere(or maybe not, considering right now my main concern is getting THIS game to work, as opposed to generalized OS tips that might not be specific to L4D2 and thusly not compatible with it)

If you right click on my computer and chose properties it will tell you how much system ram you got installed inside your pc. Download this it will tell you what your pc has in it.

nvidia driver and physx system software are needed since it's most likely better than your onboard graphic card, however the other stuff you don't need like automatic checks for updates or 3d vision. Your first realtek audio is sufficient for sound.

I just tried to uninstall High Definitiion Audio Driver package Kb8888111 but it warned that several files, including realtek HD audio driver would not work. If you can think of any specific programs I might be able to loose real fast that would be great. In looking for what you mentioned I found my HP software update, but I said that was last used on 2014 so I am not sure if I should delete that.

There's a program called GameBooster that might help your game run a little better, you could also go through your task manager and end any processes that aren't system necessary- use it to monitor your resource usage by L4D2 too.

You probably do need your GPU drivers to play, uninstalling them likely will just make it worst.

Thank you for your input :)
