Annoying random FPS lag.
Ok so for some reason when ever I stand completely still the game is fine and runs smoothly but once I aim around and/or move the game keeps randomly pausing for like around 0.5 or higher seconds. What's causing this and how can I fix it? This only happens in L4D2 for some reason.

bump. most answers on the internet i've found say "disable v-sync" so try that; it might work for you. unfortunately it did not for me. Team Fortress 2 works completely fine but Left 4 Dead 2 has such input lag that it makes the game unplayable.

Actually, that sounds like network lag caused by high ping subscribers in the game server. Could be you or one or more other players causing this. I was in a campaign game earlier tonight and experienced the same intermittent pauses. Even sounds and gunfire were sporatically freezing then playing. I hit the 'tab' key and saw that my ping was higher than normal (150+ and is usually around 30-40), but also one player was at 350, and another at 250. The last one was the lowest at 125. Surprizingly, the 350 ping belonged to the host. Had to leave the game the stuttering was so bad.

I'll try disabling v-sync.

Are you sure it's my or other people's ping? Next time I'm in a game I'll keep a look out servers with low pings and compare with servers with high pings and see if that's true.

I think it is a possible cause cause for the stuttering you described and I experienced. I have been removed from a server before for having a ping of 185. This seems like an awfully low threshold has been set for that server to remove players. I figured they probably were trying to prevent the lag caused by players with a slower connection/high ping. This lag is caused by the server synchronizing the game.

I disabled v-sync and the problem has been fixed. Thanks for helping.
