ah ok lol.
Wrong. They can still join your games. Valve doesn't bother fixing the server browser glitches so they can find your game and join it even if you've blocked them.
lol thanks
This USED to work; I remember getting the error message that I've blocked someone, and some people's friends trying to join my games and themselves getting the error that someone in this game has blocked you. I'm not sure when this changed, but it worked at some point in time.
I blocked someone 1 year ago, and he was able to join my games every since that.
It seems block only prevents them adding you as friends and commenting on your profile.
You are probably the exception. See the thread on the steam forum: forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3209925
I just blocked an idiot, I start another game and BAM, there he is! Like 5 min after I blocked him. WTF? Guy was a bug exploiter / rusher / troll / piece of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and he joins my game 5min after I block him??
It has been fixed for me since last Jan.
The process of thinning out people ruined a aspect of L4D 2 for me. And what I mean is for all these people that blocked each other, access to servers became worst. When L4D 2 first came out & there was no block system, you would see the servers being used to maximum potential. As in a full 4 player campaign game. Or a full 8 player VS game. And you could at least get connected to a server & have decent latency / ping. Now..... servers are not always full. Starting a game from the lobby & getting a good server is almost impossible. And why? Because people blocked each other.
Get a friend you can trust when your gaming to play alongside you. One of my relations plays alongside me all the time and it serves as a great strategic advantage towards trolls.
1. Troll comes in and wants to shoot you? With 2 players they will never stand a chance of accomplishing this. Only the other day some guy joined and shot at me through the 1st segment of dead air, on the second segement he chainsawed me to about 40% in the saferoom. With the other computer and relation as backup we had no choice but to incapacitate him. on the finale we put him down again since he started to get abusive and do the same (I like to give people the benefit of the doubt) but he stayed until the end, left 4 dead and begging. Cheeky git even had the nerve of adding me as a friend. We could have kicked him but we agreed that would have been the easy option, having him watch us till the end taught him a lesson, or perhaps not since the way he was typing and throwing profanity around I suspect he's trolling to pass the time.
Playing with trusted friends will always yield the better gaming experience. That's not to say you can't have good games and find decent people on public games, but they are very few nowadays.
2. Runners leaving the team? - Leave them to their own devices. If your playing alongside a trusted friend (or in my case relation) then you have nothing to worry about. Chances are they'll get snagged or pounced upon by a special sooner rather than later.
Just be prepared for them to shift the blame on you when that happens, and it will. A trusted friend is indeed, your best asset. Of course if you have a defib then revive them so they can make the same mistake again which will probably be the likely outcome.
3. Getting kicked for no reason at all? - With a friend ingame anyone trying to kick won't be able to (unless they are hostying locally) so the vote will never pass. TBH, I've never been kicked from a campaign and I've played over 2200 campaigns but people won't know this since my profile is set to private but being kicked is something I've not experienced, i guess i've been lucky.
