crashes at start up

last played about a month ago and now the game crashes at startup. Verifyed the game it showed that it needs to repair a file. After it was done the problem still appears. I start the game and it just closes. just black screen and get back to desktop. Anyone have a clue?

i was loookin for some info but havent seen any posts lately i thought its a new problem not old cause i played it not long ago

it might be a compatibility problem or just maybe a bad installation. I had that problem a while back and I just uninstall it and install it again.

I would first remove all addons and try. If that didn't work...I would delete local content. Manually delete the L4D2 folder (you might want to move VPK files so you don't have to re-install them). Restart Steam. Re-install L4D2. Play game. If it runs, add back your mods.

i dun have any mods but thx i try it again,
although didnt work at amnesia machine for pigs thats kinda same problem but it pops up a back kox crash window

stilll the same problem wtf is goin on? reinstalled verifyed restarted teh pc , n nothing helps? My graf cards driver is latest cause my amnesia machine for pigs has same problem with many other players and tryed millions of configuration to fix it but no support. I think L4D2 is joins the party.....
