Windows 8.1 caught me by surprise

I was unaware L4D2 and CS:GO were "not compatible" to WINDOWS 8.1. Whenever I intend to play L4D2 my game crashes to desktop.

After a quick search I found out I had to verify game integrity to solve my problem.
After that was done Steam must re-download the "corrupted file(s)" but all servers are currently too busy to handle my request.
I tried to change my download region to no avail.
Anyone could help me out on that ?
If I knew that I'd never have updated my windows to 8.1

Who says they aren't compatible? I'm running it fine.

Several people reported CTD . And when I say several people I mean the majority of comments regarding WIN 8.1 and L4D2. Most of them here around the forum.

I play on Windows 8.1 Laptop and the game works fine.

I play on windows 8.1 too. works fine, minus sometimes I lag sometimes.
