Problem With Restoring The Backed Up files ..

Hello , I downloaded the game and after some days I decided to Channge my windows form 7 x86 to 7 x64 because of NETHER game , After that I backed up the L4D2 via steam into 2 discs and now i try to restore it It goes fine and going to Create Game Local Catche File until it tells me there is an problem and that's your connection problem and It timed out ! how do i do ? Please Some one help becasue I don't have time download the game again is there nat way extract the backup files or something like this ?
