So I came across this article and since I can relate to the interviewer's "experience with promod (professional) players", I'm wondering if any of you do as well?
- Have you encountered promod players in vanilla versus?
- What's your general experience and impression?
- Do you agree or disagree with this Sk8erdude?
“Modifications to the game such as Promod and Confogl which are supposedly competitive mods were used as a way for better players to distinguish themselves from an average so called “pub” player. Pub players are known as casual players who just want to play a game and don’t always have a team of friends.”
“My overall impression of the competitive community is the majority of them are arrogant self-centred and greedy individuals who tend to over rate they’re playing abilities because they let it go to they’re head,” he told me with a bitter smile. “They tend to dismiss any wins in a non promod game saying the win was not legitimate because it doesn’t conform to their standards.” I myself have seen lots of evidence of this behavior, a dismissiveness among the “Promod” community towards anyone outside of their small accepted clique, a sort of elite fraternity that was not so elite at all. We had beaten many of them many times in other configs of L4D2, and yet were always dismissed as vanilla players, the games we won discounted and played off as though they were nothing.
All this even though vanilla allows the same display and competition of skill that promod allows, and perhaps more, as there are far more variables and it can be more difficult to attack effectively as an infected against the stronger weapons in “vanilla” (the unofficial name for the original game, the way it was meant to be played)."http://left4dead2analysis.wordpress.com/2014/04/17/interview-with-a-veteran-gamer-the-changing-community-of-l4d2/
