Best melee and primary weapon?
What is the best melee and primary weapon possible? Desert eagle is pretty good but I prefer melee mostly

there's no such thing because it's all personal preference

Melee weapons against common belief all have the same effect in terms of damage, range, speed so it purely becomes aesthetics for that.

And in the right hands snipers are OP. You can shoot through a wall and kill a boomer from the other side of the map etc.

HR + SPANG!

But it is all highly situational. More horde needs something more than a sniper.

And if you're better spamming your combat shotgun, the use it.
Only a brony would ask this for the umpteenth time...
No such thing as best. IMO one player should have a sniper, one player a shotgun, maybe a couple of assault riles after that.
Second weapon is pure personal preference. Pistols or Melee. I prefer melee for crowd control.

Nop..
they are different in range and speed.. only the damage is the same.. 250

I dont believe with 600 hrs you dont realise that..

I think 600 hours is plenty to learn the game.

It's even funnier because my other accounts have 1800 and 800 lol.

But yep never heard discussion / Seen a wiki that explains the differences.

Whilst personal preference and playstyle certainly come into account, some weapons really do have clear benefits over others.

I personally use the Hunting Rifle (15 Shots) and either the Machete or Magnum.

The Hunting Rifle is accurate even whilst moving and if you hold shift even for a split second, you can accurately hit far-away enemies without really slowing down your overall progression and speed in moving through the level.

It has huge penetration, allowing you to hit enemies through walls provided you have accurate judgement. It also penetrates multiple targets, meaning it can easily annihilate an entire horde with a single clip if they're coming through a tight corridor or in a specific direction towards you.

It reloads relatively quickly with 15 bullets that kill all Commons in 1 hit on any difficulty unless playing on Realism. It is quite effective versus all SI and if a Tank decides to chase you specifically, whilst backpedalling you can nail him with 15 headshots in a row, dealing massive damage.

However, I do really love automatic weapons, so sometimes I'll use the AK, M16 or SCAR. As disappointing as it may be though, the Sniper Rifles are objectively better.

As Orks would say, Nuffin' beats a Bigga Shootah. Dakka Dakka!

The Magnum is seen by many to be overpowered for a combination of reasons. It kills all Commons in 1 hit, even on Realism, on any difficulty. It reloads extremely quickly with 8 shots. It penetrates up to 2 targets per shot. It can be used whilst you are knocked down. It is as powerful as a primary weapon in its own right, but it also has infinite ammo. Unlike Melee, you can still attack at range with the Magnum, which is an advantage in itself.

However, the Magnum is a good choice overall - but poor if you are mobbed. Basically, the Magnum is a better option for the majority of the time, supporting your team and annihilating Commons like no tomorrow with the failsafe option of its infinite ammo. If you are downed, you are still quite capable of defending yourself and keeping enemies away whilst you are helped back up.

But Melee is definitely a better choice if you know you are going to encounter a huge amount of enemies, such as through a "Panic-Event" (Horde Event) like the Parish Finale, Stadium-Run in Dark Carnival, Parish Alarm-Tower, etc.

However, having a Melee weapon means you are more or less boned if you are incapped without anybody immediately there to assist you - and unlike the Magnum - if somebody else is grabbed by a SI close to you, your default weak pistol will rarely save them in time.

As far as melee goes, I believe the Machete to be the best melee weapon. Whilst all Melee weapons share the same damage, their speed and swing-arc is different. The Machete, for me, strikes the perfect balance between swing-speed and the swing-arc, able to cleave through multiple enemies with ease and it swings really quickly.

Case example is the Parish Finale. After all 2 team-mates were dead and 1 was incapped, right towards the last segment of the Bridge where the tank appears, I had no choice but to run for it. With zillions of Commons in my face, I managed to cleave through all of them, nonstop, all the way to the Helicopter.

I would not have been able to do it with any other Melee weapon, because it swings very quickly and hits roughly a 45 degree arc infront of you, but maybe thats just my learned-experience from using that specific weapon so much over the others.

Im not sure about you, but I have ~infinitely~ better experience using any sort of Bladed weapon as opposed to the Blunt ones. I know technically they should kill Commons just the same, but in my playtime, I find that more often Blunt weapons will have the L4D-problem of making the hit-connection noise and blood spatter, but the Common doesnt seem to take a hit and subsequently punches you anyway. On Expert, its horrendous.

Whereas Bladed weapons always seem to kill at least 1 Common on each and every swing.

Even with no lag whatsoever, I've had instances where a Common has taken multiple hits with a Baseball Bat or Police Baton without dying. Infact, it happens fairly often. Something seems to be screwy about the 'attack hitbox' of the Blunt weapons (The invisible object it swings infront of you. If it connects with an enemy hitbox, it then deals Effect : Damage).

All comes down to what you like. Snipers can be OP in the right hands tho.
