Versus mode question
I've heard that infected players can only see your outline if you are shooting, typing, or your character is talking. Is this true?

No, you are wrong.

It is called sneaking.
You can walk with shift or ctrl, anything you do besides that make you pop up, including walk into smoke (dead smoker), shoving, shooting, etc..

ps: typing/talking does not disturb the sneaking.

I dont need to, if you dont realize it by yourself you are a noob.

Players always stop walking, waiting for spit, or whatever, you can see the oulines fading, it pops back up when the players move.

Look at 11:30
Pay attention to the survivors, you can notice the fading when the players stop, and stand still.. (or walk)

edit:
Exactly at 11:32, look at francis (player Zayna)
Besides that, several times you can´t see all four players..

When a survivor is stationary their glow disappears.

It's a pretty obvious feature of the game.
If you haven't noticed it yet then indeed you either don't play infected much of just aren't that observant; i.e. a noob.

Blaq isn't the one that posted incorrect info lol

He is right though, We do this kind of stuff in scavenge all the time. One player runs around collecting gas cans, another spawn blocks above (his glow disappears) and continue to follow the can runner walking if possible.
A player on special infected side, sees the outlines through walls, but they fade and disappear when survivors stand still, crouches, walks (shift key) , or crouch movement. This does not work on bot special infected, they can see you regardless

Next time in Versus/scavenge, ask survivors in the safe room/area walk around from corner to corner (and not move their mouse to aim) and see if you can view their outlines through walls.
