You're that far in the game, and you don't know how to cook? No way. You're lying.
Edit: You should already have multiple dessert recipes. You must have missed a truckload of content if you don't. If you don't, and they're not selling them at the bookstore, you're probably out of luck.
Double edit: Actually, wait. I feel like you should have at least one or two just from going through the story. Do you just not have someone to cook it with?
Since that quest is optional skip it for now and revisit it on your second playthrough.
Unless coffee counts as a desert in the game it won't be of much help.
To the OP: Try going to the pawnshop. Go in and out repeatedly. You should see books talking about how to cook show up eventually. Buy them. Even recipes that aren't normally in book form can show up that way (the same as missing Red Rose books).
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, next game I'm looking for ways to get easier 100% completion on things before I do it, spoilers be amned
