Build v1.2.2 has been released!
~~~
While the game's multiplayer prototype is being rapidly built that hasn't stopped DoN from improving on other fronts every single day!
Here are the goodies that the latest build brings:
Random Maps Vastly Improved!
DoN's random map generator has been overhauled. You'll now see far more variation on terrain and flora, quicker load times and unique floral setpieces each time you restart the game!
Structural changes for multiplayer support
Instead of releasing multiplayer support in one big-bang, structural changes for facilitating multiplayer will be gradually released with every patch. Several parts of the game are being rewritten to facilitate multiplayer support and these will hopefully culminate in the arrival of formal MP support. A beta branch for multiplayer may be added in the future if necessary.
Both of these are major changes so please report any bugs/issues (should you run into any!).
Bugfixes
  • Turning anim not played after JP hits landscape from another surface
  • Free Cam mode had camera rotation issues, now fixed
  • Extraneous "Free look active" prompt now removed
  • Free look while flying (via mouse MMB) was broken, now fixed (It's a lot of fun so try it!).
  • Unsaved world presets now reflect properly in the game world allowing quick experimentation with the World Editor.
That's it for this patch! Hope you enjoy it :)
As the title post has gotten way too verbose I'll be splitting each patch into a separate post below.
Hear now! A scintillating timelapse of DoN's Steam journey:
Could you make a windows 10 because I just found out it's not the grabics that are slowing down the game its because my computer is windows 10.
Sorry If i sounded rude I feel like I did
Hey! Win 10 with Dx12 is actually the fastest way to play the game right now. The game executable already comes optimized for various platforms and flavors, so there will never be a need to release a Win 10 specific version or anything like.
What's your hardware setup and what kind of FPS are you getting atm?
Hey knjohnson0427, try this:
Finding your FPS
Go to Steam->Settings->In-Game and look for the "In-Game FPS Counter" dropdown.
It is off by default, just change it to any suitable like, eg: "Top-Right". That will show you the FPS while you're playing.
Your hardware setup
I suspect your graphics card may be below the minimum system requirements. To find your graphics card run "DxDiag" (in the start menu or equivalent), go to "Display 1" and see what the graphics card model is. To know your CPU model open System Information (type "System" in the start menu) and see what the "Processor" field says.
Tuning performance
I'm guessing you've already played around the various Video Settings in the settings menu (in addition to the obvious ones like lowering the quality sliders, you can also lower view distance, resolution scale, turn off depth of field, motion blur or even lower the actual resolution itself).
There is a special map called "Performance Friendly" which contains only gameplay items (no visual props), try running that one alone.
