ASHES ESC: January 2017 Dev update!
Greetings and happy new year!

Lots of stuff going on so I'll get right to it.

## DLC MIGRATION ##

People who bought the base game Ashes of the Singularity's DLC will start to see that DLC show up here and automatically be added to their account.

The tentative schedule is like this:

January: Part 1
- Dawn of the Singularity (eBook prequel written by David Simpson) [$4.99]
- Soundtrack (by Battlestar Galactica's Richard Gibbs and Civ V's Geoff Knorr) [$9.99]

January: Part 2
- Overlord Gauntlet (combines Overlord and Gauntlet together, if you have either one you get it) [$4.99]
- Epic Turtle Wars (combines the epic map pack with turtle wars with oblivion, if you bought either one, you get it all). [$4.99]


## Version 2.1 ##

We are hard at work on the next big update to Escalation. We expect this to show up within the next 30 days or so. Lots of little polish things, localization improvements, general clean up.

We'd like to get your feedback on other hot key layouts you might want to see.

Think of 2.1 as a general across the board polish pass so feel free to comment here on any little touches you'd like us to get in for this version.


## Scenario Editor ##

We are going to be releasing an open source scenario editor for Ashes. You should be able to make your own stuff relatively easily. This will be in preparation for the forthcoming Steamworks uploading and downloading of maps and scenarios.


## Cider Mill ##

This is more of a modding thing but a major project at Stardock is to create a series of tools that will let people more easily modify Nitrous based games. That means UI, units, etc.

One of the first tools will be called Nitrous WhipIt which will let you bring in FBX files and manipulate them so that you can create your own models.

The long-term goal is to open up Ashes so that you can create any RTS with it. Baby steps.


## Juggernauts ##

The T4s are on the way. The question is whether we release them as they get done or wait until all 6 are done. You tell us.

Roughly speaking how much more expensive are the T4s over T3s?
wait for them all to be done, or release them like this: the first 2, then 2 more, then the last 2, EX: release the first PHC and substrate one together, then the next ones of each, then the last ones of each. I also love the new stuff to hopefully come this month. Can't wait for February and the rest of 2017!

I'd love to get my hands on the juggernauts ASAP. Nothing wrong with a constant stream of content. I expect bigger content releases as DLC.

If you don't see any major balance concerns with doing so and you're sure they're working properly, I'd rather see new units released as they become available.

In general, I much prefer regular updates to long waits for giant lumps of content.

Oh, and as for the 2.1 'polish pass', if you guys could take a look at fixing this bug with the attack-move function that I reported back in the original beta, I, for one, would certainly appreciate it.

If not fixed already looking into certain gfx effects that show up with AMD cards but not Nvidia cards would be nice.

Harbinger's red laser
upgrade icons over defences
lighting effects when capurting a node

Release juggernauts as they get done.
Release the T4's in pairs so each side gets 1 if that's possible. If not, then all at once. Better to have that then have only PHC or only Sub have a T4 and dominate the game late game.

As for quality of life touches, I think I have one or two:

1) When you have an army made, I can't see the different weapons of the main unit, such as the T3. If I want to see the dps and whatnot I have to undo the army. Not a big issue, but could be a good change to make it still visible

-Attack Move E

-Patrol <

-Stop Q

-Group Army Shift+V maybe better strg (*)

-UnGroup Army Shift+B maybe better strg

-z,x,c the same

Building:

R-T-Y

F-G-H

V-B-N

-Maybe a few changes could improve it more
-I think its much better than the arrow scrolling
-Please change y->z; z->y in the german version
-Customizable hotkeys would make everybody happy
-Finally the tab building thing is not optimal, especially if you have to remember where you are in the tab while having 100 engineers

-I have crashes in the game while unsing GDATA Antivir Software

-The balance of the mauler and the athena is a real problem since the last patch
-Subs Detonate does not kill Athena
-PHC T2 anti building bomber is not killable with fighters

o,o those hot keys would make the game harder for people like me who are used to league lol. I love the current set up for building and such (q,w,e,r,t) because it's like League and I have like 3k hours in that. Just fits naturally ^^

I don`t really like to scroll with arrows, the wasd scrolling is much more relaxing for your mouse hand with nearby keys to build something etc.

The issue is that I use my mouse to scroll and my other hand to do the key bindings and your set up would make it really hard and I'll have to actively think about it.

The best solution is to have both. Let the player choose their set up when they first start the game. That way we both get our way!

One small fix I would like to see is that buildings don't have collision with the terrian when placing them. It looks unfinished when you go to place a building and half of it is invisible or sunk into the ground.

Also, when selecting an idle engineer, make it so it zooms appropriately to the engineer. While it does this somewhat, it zooms out and when I zoom in it doesn't zoom in to the engineer. Make it so finding and utilizing idle engineers is easier.

Also, how about a radius firing range for defensive structures?
more content asap....free and $$$

Make sure both faction have same amount of t4s so relaese in pairs one for sub and one for PHC
