Death, despair and ashes. Normally, the ambassador of pain, fear and depression they are in Darksiders 2.
Already 3 clock in the morning. Again five hours has Darksiders 2 times just eaten so. Actually I wanted to fulfill only a certain quest. But then we found a treasure chest on the map, which wanted to get looted.
Parallel to the events of the first Darksiders makes his war brother's death to prove his innocence. We remember: the first war was accused of having provoked the apocalypse and summarily condemned.
The story is driven by such a large main quests that we undertake mainly in dungeons. These in turn are connected to each other by a large overworld. But the tree of life is not the end of the game and the creator Empire not the only visited the death on his way. Even if you rush through the game quickly, you should have a running time of at least 20 hours to plan - secondary Dungeons and additional tasks not counted.
While the combat system of Darksiders 2 is similar to the first part, but ready an exciting new feature: A Block-button is completely missing. Death also relies on his agility in combat, proposes hooks and rolls in attacks quickly out of the danger zone, and then to counter the next moment.
Practical: We can target an enemy push of a button, making death automatically moves around it. Then the hero either with its default weapons (two scythes) or a secondary weapon strikes (selectable from claw gloves, axes, hammers, etc.).
For successful battles and quests solved it hails addition to gold and experience points that bring the death of skill points. So it's off to the character development of our apocalyptic horseman.
Split the skills are in two talent trees. The messengers of death-tree mainly improves the combat ability. For example, hisses death with the teleport beat by opponents through and filled with the energy of life on his own again. The Necromancer tree is, however, responsible for Tod's magical abilities.
The distinctive characters, the breathtakingly huge raid bosses that varied dungeons and of course the post-apocalyptic-crazed look of the main character's death to ensure that the Darksiders world looks cool and works voices. The successful effects support this mood also. The fighting and climbing locations know to impress with buttery smooth animations. This contrasts with the sometimes muddy textures, low detail shadows and the general polygon poverty - a fresh graphics engine would Darksiders 2 quite well done.
At the sound, there's also hardly cause for criticism. All effects - the battle cry to scythe rattles or boss roar - a perfect match. The English speaker breathe their roles almost scary to life. Prime example of this is the main character death, of actor Michael Wincott (The Crow) is synchronized.
Vigil Games has hergenommen the already great Darksiders and improved for the continuation of the right places. Darksiders 2 is larger, more varied and motivating than the first part, all of the games Mente - whether story, combat, puzzles and skill insert - grab almost perfectly together. Although I would have liked a more modern technology backbone, and the mouse and keyboard control could have used more polish. But these are minor points that I would forgive such a captivating game.
Score: 87 / 100
