Forever a must play...
(All my own opinions/experiences/joys)
As an avid fan of zombie games, I can honestly say this is the one I have enjoyed the most!
Once you've got your sensitivity set, you're set to take on the hordes of seemingly endless zombies, alongside your three friends (don't take it personally when they shoot you in the back, they're probably just trying to shoot the zombie that's about to swipe at you). I highly recommend getting up to three other people on board that you can speak to via headset. I say this due to the fact (and you may be surprised how often this occurs) they may not realise that you've been pounced on by a hunter, pulled away by a smoker or thrown up on by a boomer (...thus resulting in being molested by a horde of horny zombies, that want to rip your clothes off) and you will end up typing things like “jyghk!!!11!” in the chat, just to be abandoned, angry, on the ground, bleeding out, shooting wildly into the crowd of gropers around you.
So in short, get a headset... (And some friends)
After getting into the swing of sticking together and (although you may hate it) helping out your teammates, picking them up when they go down and parting with your precious pills to prolong their lives, you will become a pro. You'll be running the Expert level campaigns, crowning witches, burning tanks, sniping hunters in the face mid jump, generally winning at the game.
Versus is another story... A lot of fun, however it's hard to find a normal server these days, so you'll be thrown into a 20 vs 20 game which is both hilariously fun and rage quittingly frustrating. So again, private games with friends trumps crazy hacker filled custom servers.
From playing Left 4 Dead for nights on end on the Xbox 360 with my buddy (MrSneakyMan), listening to Rammstein in order to pump ourselves up to fight the horde, to finally downloading it on PC and pouring even more hours into it. I still keep coming back to this game, sometimes for a quick versus match, other times to replay entire campaigns with the strangers of the internet (yeah, you...).
So far I've been into this game for a year so here is some info: this is a survival/campaign game which involves zombies, guns, violence and gore/ a bit of horror. You may also be able to play multi-player with friends and I advise that there is friendly-fire so please be careful when aming you gun. it is sometimes objective-type but mostly survival. thanks I hope this review will be good enough to persuade you to get this game
Left 4 Dead is a nice co-op game where you choose 1 of 4 survivors and try to complete objectives in order to get rescued, while been attacked by hordes of zombies. The game contains several different gamemodes, even 1 where you can become an infected and fight the survivors, who are once again, controlled by human players. The levels are designed very good and there is a diversity in all of them, and each one has its setting. You can also find many different types of firearms and melee weapons scattered around, while the game is still not so generous and there aren't weapons around every corner.
Only reason why I don't recommend this game is because Left 4 Dead 2 exists. The second installment contains everything the first one has, plus more characters, more levels, better graphics (which is not that important honestly, but its there) and a workshop, where you can find mods to reskin weapons, characters, play on new community created levels and more.
