It is about time they learned how to use those...
HOWEVER, if CS is anything to go by (and it should, considering that its bots are from the same guys as L4D is and they probably used quite some routines from CS like how to aim and shoot), the it is a really good thing that they can't pick up or use throwables.
The reason is that the bots in CS were absolutely HORRIBLE with throwing grenades of any kind and more often damaged themselves and their team than the enemy. And I imagine that the bots in L4D would probably have the same issues when they would have throwables. But they refuse to pick them up anyway, so they don't steal them from actual players and potentially waste that throwable.
Well I experienced none of that. The bots picked up Pipe Bombs and Molotovs on sight, and they used them when mobs or a horde was getting close. They even used Molotovs on tanks on sight...
I only wish I could find that server again.
Reason is that a burning Tank is FASTER than a non-burning Tank and the fire on him doesn't deal any actual damage - it just plain kills the Tank after about 90 seconds (which is, btw, longer than it would take to just shoot him in most situations)
Try telling that to the noobs I play with, they say on the contrary tank on fire is slow and better. Then I get banned, kicked, shunned...
i know your message is like 4 years old, but i just thought id say that fire DOESN'T speed up the Tank at all, it did speed up the Tank in L4D1 but in L4D2 that was removed, why it was removed is beyond me,
this is a quote from the L4D wiki
"In Left 4 Dead, lighting a Tank on fire in Campaign Mode will boost his speed." notice how they didn't say Left 4 Dead 2?
