L4D1 Lives! No locking will halt the cause!
Apparently the last topic was locked for some reason (conspiracy?). Nonetheless, our group won't be buried beneath those who wish to kill off L4D1's base.

Join the group here! Prove to the hostile community that Left 4 Dead 1 still has an active fanbase! Don't give into peer pressure and boycott the Left 4 Dead 1 on Left 4 Dead 2 ports!

say the guy with 330h on l4d1 and +1000h on l4d2
RainingMetal 9. mar. 2014 kl. 6:29
Yeah. What if I told you that those hours on L4D2 were never spent on the ports? Ever?
Myleena 9. mar. 2014 kl. 7:04
L4D2 port =/= L4D1
RainingMetal 9. mar. 2014 kl. 7:45
Exactly. Which means if I wanted to play Campaigns such as No Mercy, or play as Bill, Louis, etc, I'd play L4D1. Don't let my statistics discourage you.

when we play?

I'm seeing a lack of faith from the steam boards as well as within the group. Stay united!
Techno 2 2. mar. 2015 kl. 19:56
I couldn't agree more. Do not let L4D1 fall into the abyss!!!
RainingMetal 3. mar. 2015 kl. 5:41
We have our lives to run, sadly.

Edit: Also, I think a lot of people would be intimidated from playing Expert.

Bump.

I would like to join, but it seems as if the group has a petty grudge against those who have ever enjoyed playing the original campaigns on L4D2, which is a shame as I like both games. So I guess I am unwelcome?

To be perfectly honest, that was in response to some liars saying that the ports were a GOOD thing. Would you be pleased about something that replaces your very way of life? I kicked that member and he called me a liar, despite it being him being the hypocrite. Some people play L4D1 just for Zoey, and then "moved on" to the ports.

Those kinds of people are not welcome in the group. You can enjoy both games as you please, as long as you're honest about it.

Well Left 4 Dead isn't personally a way of life for me. For me personally, I believe the ports were a good idea (for me at least) as I get to enjoy the greatness of the original campaigns with some of the changes made in Left 4 Dead 2, as well as Left 4 Dead 2's higher player count. What I do not like however, is how Left 4 Dead 1 has only 300 or so people playing at once, likely caused to a certain degree by the ported campaigns. I feel as if Left 4 Dead's price should be lowered to some degree to compensate for the small amount of players.

I'm almost certain the ported campaigns are the immediate and dominant cause, hence why I personally refuse to play the ports on L4D2 (I play the L4D2's original campaigns though). Hell, I even refuse to play any custom campaigns with the L4D1 survivors on L4D2! You're probably right in that L4D1 should have a discount, or at least have some degree of support (like a workshop) to increase the playerbase. Some of us have even created custom content for L4D1 and refuse to port it over.

Not that it stops the scumbag pirates and thieves who try to do so anyway without any sort of talent. I'm sure you'll know who I'm talking about. They would stop at nothing to destroy us.

Personally I find the whole "I won't play ported campaigns" a little petty and silly. Nothing is going to change if you play on the ported campaigns. What's done is done, it's already been ported over, and that is irreversible, might as well enjoy what you can. Playing on a ported campaign won't make Valve sit in their chairs and start cackling maniacly and think "Our master plan has worked!", and I am sure that Valve had no evil intentions when porting the campaigns over. If Valve didn't do it, modders would have, and would likely be about just as popular. I know where you are coming from, I know how you can think porting the campaigns over ruined L4D1's player count, but for every person who would not want the campaigns ported over, there is probably 1, 2, 3 or more people who would want them ported. Both choices had their pros and cons, however I can definitely see where you are coming from if you believe the cons outweigh the pros.

Hey RainingMetal, you seem like a staunch supporter of L4D and have a prudent distaste for L4D2. I can respect that. I am the same in regards to not playing L4D1 campaign ports in L4D2. I usually forego the game altogether. I know that you have heard of the Greenlit L4D2onL4D, and perhaps you would be interested in volunteering for it so that perhaps one day L4D can be pulled back up from the grave since the creation of the ports in L4D2.

Perhaps you would like to apply your like for L4D1 to some L4D2onL4D project material? Particles need to be remade to fit into L4D1, but the process is racked with tedium, and I can feel my sanity slipping. Perhaps you would be interested? We need more motivated people.
