valve forgeting about the first left 4 dead?
I'm noticing that valve (and correct me if i'm wrong) hasn't given left 4 dead any attention lately and it cinda feels like they are now just puting all the good stuff with l4d2 (e.g. no l4d1 characters in re6, no steam workshop for l4d1.)

I don't see the problem with Valve putting L4D aside. Those who still play L4D today is those who didn't like L4D2.

^ The last part is not true. I know lots of players who enjoy both games (including myself). I like them and I don't care if Valve left the first game behind..

Valve abandoned this game since 2010 and has only provided few and small updates since. This is messed up for a lot of reasons, especially considering that they still sell the game. New customers to L4D1 aren't going to know that unless they ask around first.

They have even made some updates to the L4D1 maps that they ported to L4D2, but those same updates were not made in L4D1. They could have easily applied those same updates to the first game. Hell, if I had the source code, I'd do it myself and send it to them so they can distribute it as an official update.

Valve still supports and updates older games like CS:S and TF2. So why not L4D1?

They want it dead. Proof: all maps (except The Last Stand) are ported to L4D2; also, the L4D1 survivors don't appear in RE 6, though they are cooler and more realistic than the new survivors..

as far as I know TF1, Portal 1, and half-life 1 never recieve updates anymore either. this seems reasonable. Only thing I have a gripe about is them not adding steam workshop support to Left 4 Dead 1.

It took them over 1 year to add the Workshop to L4D2. They will never spent that much time for a game which they stopped updating almost 3 years ago..

It's a huge loss to the fact that Valve has decided to leave aside absolutely L4D1 in every way: updates, maps, etc.. to focus on improving the sequel to this great game.

Valve has decided to supposedly improve L4D2 and L4D1 better forget about this strategy and marketing them has shot itself in the foot, because comparing the two games well knowing just which one is the one that prevails.

An absolute disgrace to all fans of L4D1 have to settle for a game that practically no longer evolve and only hope that if I ever take the third installment, not as pathetic as Left4Dead2.

Makes complete sense to me and to be honest i dont see why this would bother anyone, L4D1 is old game you cant expect Valve to keep releasing content for every game so stop the whining,

If this game was as good as you say it is, why would they need to update it?
KEY5T0RM <XIV> 5 Abr, 2013 às 12:30
It is certainly true that L4D1 already has his years, but left practicaly while TF2 (Team Fortress 2) and yet the latter has had many updates, enhancements and bug fixes. Also new maps and Steam Workshop.

Valve has made improvements in every game launched, but after launching L4D L4D2. In CS upgrades have brought in have brought the Half Life Half Life Source (the Source Engine 2.0 and the graphical improvements) If Valve has worked to improve their games, why one of his games and does not provide or a minimal upgrade.

And about how good L4D1 should talk about new maps added, as it is always the same boring maps. Maps are official campaign pages that can be downloaded, far right. But what about the versus maps. There are more maps in the 5 Versus mode that brings the game officially and this can be very boring if achieved over a thousand hours of play, I can assure you from my own experience.

No one is whining. You either missed, or didn't comprehend what was already mentioned. And again, CS:S is a much older game than L4D and it still gets updates.

I think there's a confusion here with people regarding "updates". Personally, when I say updates to L4D1, I am referring to bug fixes and exploit fixes, not new content. I'm not expecting new campaings, new music, new lines for the survivors, even though they can easily make it happen. The community can take care of the new camapaigns part, as well as the audio department. But something that pretty much only Valve can do, is add new weapons and characters. The community is very limited in those two departments since they have to resort to 3rd part software in order to make it work, which very few have managed to do.

If the game was open source, people would have fixed the things that need fixing already. Not only that, we would be able to add pretty much whatever content we wanted and wouldn't be cocerned about any updates.

Unfortunately they do. I would like to see a Workshop for Left 4 Dead 1. I tried to install some community made skins for Zoey and Louis, but every time when I want to load a map the game crushes.

Valve had alot of new cool stuff like new reloads and all sorts which made l4d more realistic but they didnt put it in because they dont care about l4d1 anymore just l4d2 which is kind of sad :(
