Discuss.

Best expansion imo was Lord of Destruction for Diablo 2

It's better then the Half-Life 2 games, but man is it hard.

It's great, so far one of my favorite story expansion packs.

I think this expansion felt pretty unnecessary. It adds little/nothing to the overall story. I mean, what did we learn that we didn't already know from HL1? That there are black ops guys fighting the military; nothing else?

This new "feature", these military companions didn't add much either. The AI was bad and I had to reload previous saves several times because they got stuck. They also had too little health and died very fast. Further more they were really impersonal.

There are a lot more weapons in OF than HL1, too many imo. I mean, is it really necessary to have TWO melee weapons? Several weapons I never got the chance to even fire.

Well for starters we learned more about the black ops (backstory etc.),saw male black ops, found out that they are planning to kill everything and also find out that the black mesa facility has been blown up to pieces. And get a fun military experience. And why not have more melee weapons? It gives variation! And a cool combat knife. And you could of stopped at "It adds little/nothing to the overall story". Almost sums up all the crap you said now.

It's possible to have different opinions and still have a friendly conversation. At least I had hoped so.

Opposing force has always been a special game. I never felt it was extraneous in the least. Enjoyed every bit of it (well except for my first time in the sewer with voligores). I liked the new gameplay aspects that were added. The displacer allowed me to go on a Xen vacation whenever the hell I wanted. It's too bad that Valve never invested in properly moving this game to steam (music issues). I'd be bored with a game like this today, of course, but back in '99 it was the ♥♥♥♥.

Good game. I'd say it's a game on its own, not a DLC. I enjoyed every single bit of it, and it's a lot better than Blue Shift, which is also an extension by itself.

It's a good expansion definitely. It really improves on what made Half-Life fun and even manages to find new ways to make fun weapons (like the xen portal gun). I can't say that it's the best I've ever played though.

Yknow, besides the whole "entire new alien race" thing. And the G-Man putting Adrian in suspension therefore setting up a character to appear later on in the game who actually has military experience AND performed the kind of insane survival Gordon did. Also the fact that IMO OpFor is much harder than Half-Life making Adrian an even better fighter. I really hope he gets to accompany you in Episode 3.
