Downloadable INI tweaks, max settings, no GPU detection required.
The easy way. :)
(MAKE SURE YOU COPY AND PASTE YOUR ORIGINAL FILES, IN THE ORIGINAL DIRECTORIES, BEFORE OVERWRITING ANYTHING. KEEP YOUR ORIGINAL FILES)

This is for 1920x1080. If your res is not 1920x1080
Do the following:

Take the files off "Read only"
Search the compat for "1920" & "1080" change it to your res.
Same goes for the engine file.
Then set the files back to read only, apply.

This ini should not care about what gpu you have, because every setting in every batch, is now maxed.

The files have been set to "Read only".
simply drop these files into your My documents/My Games/ Aliens Colonial Marines/Pecan Game/ Config
FOLDER.
Done..
Enjoy..


You cannot revert any settings or adjust settings in game, when using this ini.
It will crash if you do.

Lense flares, DOF and some things like motion blur, have been removed.
I like a crisp picture, not a blurry one, with rainbow hexagons.
The severe blueish haze from mulitplayewr in vs on marines, should also be gone from the levels where it happened.
Seemed like it was a low quality bloom issue.
Not sure..
AO may not work..May require gpu tweaking and catalyst/control panel over rides, beta drivers, etc.

EDIT: Uploaded a new file with EXTREME delay for body despawn and parts you can be blown into.
9999 seconds for bodies to despawn and more parts you can be blown/chopped up into.
100 bodies can be dead on screen at one time.
The Pecangame file does this. Do not use mine if you do not want that.

UPDATE: Reduced the amount of parts you can be blow/chopped up into.
May of been causing some lag.
Down to 5 from 10.

That's why I say backup your originals.
It works for me.

On a side note.
I added the gtx 680 to the gpu list.
Had it in there from previous steps I had taken, while learning about the UT3 engine.
I don't think it matters at this point since all details level, will set max.
But I thought I should mention it, just in case.

Just by the slider. set at 90.

I took 40 and lost steam connection.
tried to upload over and over...
They all failed..lol..
Another reason I stress that you keep your originals.

Idk about eyefinity.
I use an Nvidia card.
Is there something I could do, to make sure it does?

pretty sure my slider pins at 30 which is ♥♥♥♥. i may give your files a shot. been waiting for an update but christ does not look like there is one coming. im sure eyefinity will work it does now but like i said fov way out of wack it makes me ill. now you say max settings does it make a huge diff in visuals? or does a guy still need dx mods etc etc

I think I have to leave that up to individuals to decide. :)
This is just what can be done with ini tweaks.
It helps, That's all I can really say..lol.
There are some modifications, that are definitely worth having imo.

DX mods?
There are no currently working Dx mods that I am aware of.
There are texture mods I have seen that I would defnitely recommend.
I am just waiting for those texture mod packages to mature a bit.
They look amazing from what I have seen though.

They are definitely above and beyond what this will do.
But independent and different.

Is this compatible with the other mods? (SFX DX10 etc) Or do they need to be deleted first?

These are ini tweaks already set up with graphics card updates. Just copy/change name on your exhisting 3 files then paste these in and you're done. DOn't play with the in game video sliders because it will crash the game. It's all set up for shadows, bloom, lighting. This isn't the sweetFX mod or HD graphics.

I don't think it's just a case of wishful thinking. Bishop's ini tweaks to me do seem to make the game's lighting more atmospheric to what Aliens was like. Well done Bish ;-)

The dynamic lighting and bloom looks great. The fog and shadows really make it look erie as hell. Once HD textures hit this will look great. We'll be lucky to see DirX 11 support since this game is a unified product with consoles.

Bishop,

Do you know if these tweaks work in MP Coop games? I’m curious if only the host sees them or do the other players also get the benefits of those aliens lying around too. I have a feeling that everyone has to have the same ini files to see those changes.


BTW Bishop, add this to the memory line to make the Alien AI use walls and celings better.
