I totally just owned steam asking for a refund.
I should be a lawyer, completely owned! To all other Aussie wanting a refund: I'm sure you can refference the same laws I have. Anyway do you think I owned?

I'll be surprised if I don't get a refund.

Erm... you don't think it might be better saving the claims of 'ownage' until you've actually GOT a refund? Just a thought.

Hold your horses until you actually get the refund ;)

Having said that, it's good you checked your countries law, Steam is very inflexible with refunds if you don't back your claim and know your rights in regards to it. Personally i had more luck by asking developers directly (Cortex Command)...

They can't really refuse him without breaking the law. Both the UK and Oz have distant selling laws that overide steams T&C's

For someone who hates the game you beat the campaign.

I was just gonna say the same thing, he shouldn't get a refund If he beat the game. That's just grimy as ♥♥♥♥.

In this case it's abuse since he finished the game.

If he has finished the game or played it for a substantial amount of time, he won't get a refund. Hell steam could even prosecute him for attempting to defraud them.

I did the same

I don't think consumer protection is abuse or fraud. It's not like Valve or Gearbox are defenseless in their practices. I keep advising people to check their countries' laws because in some cases it overrides the Steam EULA. No matter what point of view you have on the matter not knowing your rights is ignorance and leads to being exploited. If he doesn't like the game and wants his money back, AND has the legal rights to it, why for pete's sake shouldnt he?

Nothing you wrote actually proved anyhing about breaking the law though. I'm not familiar with your country's laws exactly, but in my opinion you haven't written anything that actually shows that they have broken the law at all. Describing a game as glorious isn't a promise that the game will be amazing, and the rest is at best circumstantial. Not saying you won't get a refund, because I doubt they can be bothered to take it any further, but that is about as far from owned that you can come.

Congratulations, White Knight, you are now officially a loser.
