Borderlands 2 Launcher has stopped working *FIX, READ THREAD*
If you've had the Borderlands 2 launcher has stopped working error and validated the game files, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, uninstalled and reinstalled the .net framework and redists, and still nothing has worked, some guy on the Gearbox forums named Pixelburst has a fix.

"Create a .txt file in notepad and write the numbers '49520' without the ' '. Save it as 'steam_appid.txt' and save it in your Steam directory 'Steam\steamapps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Win32' and run Borderlands2.exe as admin.'

I did this and the game immediately launched. This after more than 10 hours of trying to get the game to work, and not a single peep from either Gearbox or 2k support. Thanks, Pixelburst!

I right clicked BL2 in steam > Properties > Set Launch Options > then type ' -NoLauncher '. SOmething is bugged with the launcher not the actual game. Works fine now."

Mister Ponder thank you that worked for me.

I first browsed to the wordpad file mentioned by Tropes and verified that it already existed with those specific numbers.

I tried your fix though and it immediately worked.

It might be important to note though that using the '-NoLauncher' command disables the actual launcher that some of us are used to seeing when we launch the game.

Instead, it launches the game directly without having to click "play" in the launcher.

You are right though! Something is definately up with the launcher, itself.
