Steam stole my money
Hi I've recently bought Scarlet's booty dlc and when I went to launch BL2 it just started playing without updating or downloading the dlc. I went to a fast travel station and it says I haven't bought it, but when I check the download content on the menu it says I have and it is not downloaded. I've also check the properties for it on steam and Scarlet's Booty is listed in it. I've tried restarting steam and 2K and steam support were no ♥♥♥♥ing help at all. have you guys had the problem before and fixed it. if so can you guys help please?

Restart your computer and restart steam. Should start then. It doesn't always catch the update. If it is still messed up, contact Steam.

You may have already downloaded and installed that DLC. In some cases, purchasing the DLC only unlocks it.

The in-game DLC menu is just for purchasing purposes, not to tell if you own it or not.

If you want to find out if you own it, check in your Library by right-clicking BL2, and going to the DLC tab. If you have "Borderlands 2: Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty" listed, restarting Steam should make sure everything's in sync, and you should be good to go.

Editted to correct a misstatement.

If you don't get anywhere restarting steam try verifying your games cache.

I just had to download over 3GB of data after installing the Season Pass, so it seems all the DLC is not already downloaded.

No idea why. You should have already had everything there. Otherwise, playing co-op with other people would have been very difficult.

You cannot play co-op in the DLC regions without owning the DLC. The only things that are 'already there' are the DLC specific loot, the bare minimum required to display the DLC specific characters when they are in use by other players and the DLC specific skins (which need to be there for previewing in the customization stations).

You can still trade DLC loot to other players that don't own the DLC by carrying it into regions of the vanilla game. However, said players will then get a nag message that the gear is unusable without purchasing the relevant DLC; that's how DLC specific gear remains protected.

NewTroll in particular said just a couple of weeks ago that players who do not own the Beast Slaughter DLC can still play co-op with people who do so long as the host owns the DLC.

This is correct, but the story DLCs and Digistruct Peak can only be accessed if you own the DLCs. Sorry if I caused any confusion.

Wait, you mean to tell me you didn't get your money stolen just by buying Borderlands 2?

Nope. Gearbox really messed up on this title and gave me so very much more than I paid for!
