Confused about the Overpower levels
Ok, so being level 72 on UVHM and finishing the Digistruct Peak challenge will unlock the Overpower levels. Each run through the challenge will unlock a new Overpower level (I believe).

So at first, you'll be able to set the UVHM playthrough in the game options to Level 73 (Overpower 1), then Level 74 (Overpower 2) and so on. Obviously you can farm whatever enemies at that Overpower level for their respective Legendaries, Purples, Uniques and Pearlescents.

But, is the Overpower option able to be toggled on and off? So, can you farm for a Level 74 Maggie for example, get it, turn off the Overpower levels in the options and the game world goes back to the Level 72 cap with you being able to still use that gun?

I mean, the red notification saying "Level Requirement" on the card stats wouldn't really make sense unless you could only use Overpower guns when you Overpower the world. That would mean you could get a Level 76 Maggie but set the world to Level 73 and still use the gun, right?

Otherwise, I don't see the point in getting Level 80 gear and only being able to use it on Level 80 enemies. It wouldn't be that much different from simply playing the game at Level 61 or Level 72.

Overpower levels are obtained in Digistruct Peak and have no emphasis on the levels of the rest of the game, short of any loot you still get to use from the Peak.

edit: example would be you gain two overpower levels from DP so you can use any level 74 loot you obtained. Leave the DP and you're still OP getting to continue using your OP gear.

This is getting confusing.

Ooooohhh. So the Overpower levels only affect the Digistruct enemies and levels while allowing you to keep any gear from finishing the challenge. Well, I better hope they put enough variety of enemies in the challenge and have decent loot pools for them as well. And hopefully, the play is actually doable for us solo players too.

Well it's meant to be Raid-play, but I imagine if you can solo Terra and Hyperious and Pete then you should be able to take on the Peak. (Eventually.)

Um, actually, they specifically said in the press releases it's a 'toggle' option in the menu before you start the game that effects the whole world not just digistruct peak. http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=322265 the article he links to, and a following article linked both state so.

Pretty much, think Monster power from Diablo 3. From the sounds of it, we'll get setting Overpower levels as a 'prompt' when we select difficulty.

So, you're saying we can Overpower up to lvl 80, then go redo the main missions and other DLC at that lvl? Meaning, I could possibly get a lvl 80 OGRE? hmmmm.....[wipes drool]

I did some digging around in the forum link A Slipstream Sloth provided and THIS made my day:

http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/showpost.php?p=4521102&postcount=112

'From the team: "Loot never scales. If you have a level 80 Conference Call, you can bring that with you back to UVHM Overpowered 0 or back to Playthrough 1, just like any other gear. For reference, a level 80 Conference Call is about 2.6 times more powerful than a level 72 Conference Call.

The only catch is that a player cannot wear overpowered gear if they themselves have not unlocked that overpowered level. It is just like if you were level 49 and trying to wear level 50 gear—you would not meet the min requirement."
'

AND

"Yes. Golden Keys / SHiFT codes spawn items based on your current game stage. So if you're at OP 80, then loot from Golden Keys / SHiFT codes will be level 80 ...but would only usable by those who have completed that overpowered level and earned the ability to wield gear of that level."

So as long as you unlock those Overpower levels yourself, you're good to go! This means you cannot trade or dupe these Overpower weapons if you haven't unlocked the corresponding Overpower level at the Peak on your own (or in co-op).

But still, I hope it doesn't boil down to 1-4 players spending like 60 seconds on normal enemies because they all have Raid boss absurdity.

Am I the only one who thinks this "OP" level is pretty stupid? Why not just increase it to 80? They ain't short of skill points as they said in the interview. Also, their inability of level balancing caused "same build for everyone" syndrome in UVHM. There aren't that many varieties anyways.

You basically are leveling to 80, but they don't want to give out skill points past 72. The reasoning was, two full skill trees is enough.

That's actually the reverse of what they said. They said they wanted to keep you from getting ALL of the skill points for diversity, but still give you means of increasing your power.

On another side note, something that'll make some of these new potential builds even stronger, they've released 18 new legendary class mods(opposed to the 12 ingame right now, 6 terra, 6 other), that are uber versions of some of the previous class mods. That'll make for some fun testing and playing with these overpowered levels.

Indeed. As well, it makes builds that didn't go amazingly well with the first two legendary class mods more effective with these- For example, sniper or melee Zeros. :tradingcard:

And the new reaper class mod for krieg, which is looking to correctly apply Blood Bath(unlike the glitched Blister class mod), The few i saw were at about 100% kill skill duration as well, XD. Simply amazing.

I'm curious as to where these new Legendary class mods will actually drop. We're boned if they tie them specifically to dropping in the Peak.

Pearl weaponry was added in a dlc, but it can drop from any old loot midget. However, this upgrade pack is focused around an area- We'll just have to wait and see. :tradingcard:
