Borderlands 2

Borderlands 2

Statistiche:
Unable to install/start Borderlands 2
I had Borderlands previously installed on my PC, but had removed it a while back. During the summer sale, I picked up dlc and decided to reinstall it. Today I got around to actually trying it out, but it seems I can't launch the game. I end up getting the box that says "Completing Installation 1%", but it nevers increases and then an alert box that reads "The Steam Servers are too busy to handle your request for Borderlands 2. Error Code (2)." I tried to verify my cache, it says one file failed to verify and then downloads it, but fails to launch. Went through all the redists recommended in the stickied post, and found nothing out of order. I read about similarish problems encountered relatively recently, but that was about error 53 (I believe). I would really appreciate some help, bit too tired to make an account for 2k forums atm.

A few things that may work:
exit and restart Steam
Turn off your real time protection in your antivirus program (you can turn it back on once the game is downloaded and running correctly for the first time)
reverify and/or reinstall while the real time protection is off, and start the game.

Hope this helps. If not, someone here will know what's up and help you eventually.
thanks dare, tried that but still not working.... I wonder if it could be an issue with windows 8? I doubt it, but thats really the only change since I last played borderlands 2 (like a year back).
try launching it directly with the borderlands2.exe (as adminstrator) instead of using the launcher (the little thing that floats on your screen with a pic of Tiny Tina). I remember there were a lot of ppl recently had that one file repeatedly failing verify and it was 12.5 MB or so, turned out to be a launcher problem.
lol completely forgot about launching it directly. It works, even via launcher (a.k.a "the little thing that floats on your screen with a pic of Tiny Tina" lol). Only thing that seems off now, is that when I check my DLC list, it shows all my content as installed except the premiere club which only is tagged as "purchased". Dunno what happened there, but not a porblem since it was only a few guns.
Ah forgot to mention, thanks.

not to worry about that premiere club thing. mine still tells me it's not downloaded and I bought it at Christmas. But it's in my game and works, so go figure....
I'm not having problems with anything but steam. Every time I try to play borderlands 2, I have to wait for steam to update something. It's getting rediculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe the old "have you tried turning it off and back on again?" actually worked! Thanks for suggesting it.

You should probably have started a new topic, instead of reviving one that was over a year old. Some people might not notice the old dates and reply to some of the old posts, which just wastes everyone's time.

But to answer your question, you can skip the launcher (if that's what you meant) by right-clicking on the game in your Steam library and selecting Properties, then clicking "Set launch options" on the General tab and entering
-nolauncher

And, while you're at it, you can add -nostartupmovies (put a space in between them) to skip the 2K and other logo movies you normally get when the game starts.

I have reloaded Steam as you said, everything works now! Thank you!
