Ridiculous FPS drop at random
Okay, so I've googled the hell out of this problem, and I've read a lot of similar posts, but nothing after about mid-october. I've tried all the fixes I can find, and nothing's worked, and it's starting to drive me insane.

On my wife's laptop, the game will randomly drop into single-digit framerates, every five to ten minutes, for seemingly no reason at all. Her machine absolutely manhandles most other games on the market, and I'm pretty sure it's not a performance issue because no amount of graphics customizations makes it any better. I can literally drop everything to low and get the same problem. I've disabled cel shading in the willowengine.ini, as well as disabled dynamic shadows in the same. The only thing that seems to work is that every time the problem pops up, we can change the view distance to a random setting, then change it back, and it gives us another five minutes of smooth playtime. But honestly, the problem is so persistent that it's still almost unplayable.

Anyone, ANYONE with a fix, please help. I'm tearing my hair out.

System specs are as follows:

Intel Core i5 2.27 ghz
4 gb DDR3 RAM
Geforce gts 360M 1gb VRAM
Windows 7 64 bit

can you give some examples of other games that have been manhandled cause my 1st assumption is the gfx card

Skyrim, Portal 2, Dead Rising 2. If it helps drive the point home, I've got a pretty middling gpu as well (gtx 550i 1gb vram) and I run BL2 at an easy 60 fps with all settings on high, (minus physx of course, for obvious reasons). This literally happens on no other game she plays, and considering changing the visual settings has no discernable affect on the problem, I'm pretty inclined think it's software side. Any solutions?

Actually, that's a good point. I'll run some diagnostics and post back. Thanks.
