Level 12 Newb Regarding Gun Choices
I played the first Borderlands and had no trouble finding all types of guns. But in this game so far all I get is fire damage and regular damage weapons. I read a game guide that suggested avoiding fire weapons because certain monsters have almost fire immunity.
So I played through some of the Firehawk mission and have had a ton of fire thrown at me and sure enough there are a lot of monsters ressisting fire.
My questions are.
When in the game will I see some element besides fire drop?
When will launcher ammo drop?
Should I just put the fire weapons away for now?

On the contrary, fire guns should be your first choice, because almost everything is vurnerable to fire and it does more dps than any other element...
Only much latter, different element will be part of your strategy, on normal all you need is fire and occasionally a corr gun...

Ok thanks for your reply. I'll keep a fire weapon handy then.

You cant beat the game using a single element, so it's best to try them all on different enemies and see what works...

Rocket ammo is nearly nonexistant, you can buy it though, but it's expensive...

Much latter in the game, there are several trick's you can do to regen your rockets with ease...

Yeah, don't drop the fire weapons. Early on in the game launcher ammo and weapons are sparse at best. Your best bet is to have at least one of each, (fire/shock/corrosive) so you can switch depending on the situation. The most useful against both armor (mechs) and flesh will be shock, but having fire and corrosive for each is best. Once you get a little further along more options will open up regarding chests and enemy drops. Also don't worry about the rocket launcher so much. I only use it to save my ♥♥♥ once I'm down. The smg, pistol, and shotgun will be your best friends in the game.

Dont trust assault rifles, they are plain bad...

Always have a slag weapon handy to paint beefy targets. Usually I use Maliwan slag pistols because they have high chances to slag. You do 2x damage if you hit them with a non-slag attack while they're tagged with it. 3x if you're in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode.

I'm still confused to this day why they made the AR's such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ class of weapons.

One would expect that with their stat's they would be at least slightly better than smg's, that a shredifer would melt enemies, but in uvhm it becomes even more apparent and using AR's will led to suicide...

I would love to have a slag weapon. No elementals have dropped for me except fire and now I'm level 13.
Interestingly enough, my best weapon is a Ferocious Blaster Rifle, it's a purple fire rifle I got with a golden key.

Slag weapon are rare at your level, but will be more common later (about lvl 20 I think).

Blaster's are assault rifles, they will look good to you now, but once you start fiding some decent smg's, you will see the difference...
A good smg can deal about 60-80% more dmg than an equivalent assault riffle...

Slagga, Hellfire, B*tch, Stockpile Relic (smg), Bee, the end.
