Recommend a generous but balanced loot table mod?
Have about 70 hours of gameplay under my belt and have never seen a legendary, and have found maybe only three purples. Good loot is far too rare and it makes the game so boring that I decided to quit playing for several months. Recently though I've been wanting to finish this thing so I can put it behind me, but I need some motivation to do so.

I need a mod that greatly improves the drop rate of high rarity weapons, but also doesn't totally break the game and make it boring as a result. It would be nice if the mod was well made and affected loot drops from all sources (enemies, bosses, containers, etc.)

Any suggestions? I've done some searching already and have not found anything that meets my needs.

The purple weapons aren't that great. Many of the blue weapons you get from missions have some special effect that makes them great. If you want legendaries, you should farm the loot midgets in the hyperion preserve.

Please read the entire OP before responding.

If you use a Save File Editor you can enter weapon codes found on the WEB.

There is zero fun in that. I need a mod that improves drop rates, as stated in OP.

Why do you want Legendary items so badly? Rare as they are, they aren't the best loot or anything like that. Or is it that you want them because they are rare?

Also, generally, the best loot is Blue in color, if it comes from a quest. Best random loot is generally Purple stuff. Miss Moxxi's Good Touch is better then the Hellfire, for example.

I don't remember saying that. What I do remember saying is that I need a mod that improves the drop rates of high rarity loot.

i.e., I need better loot without wasting time farming.

Then toss a bunch of Golden Keys at the chest till it coughs up what you want? Normal and TVHM, you can get by with what the game throws at you, while UVHM is the thing that the masses dislike for a reason. If you want better gear, you have, what, over 200 Golden Keys to use that will get you Purple loot every time.

The mod you are looking for likely doesn't exist, you are either going to find stuff that forces Legendary items 100% of the time, or find nothing. That, and no matter how generous the mod gets on drop rates, you have to consider that every named enemy has about a 70% chance to drop their designated special drop(s) when slain during their quest. 70% chance for each boss you have fought to drop a Legendary.

70 hours isn't a lot of playtime for Borderlands, that is about enough for a single character to get through the first two playthroughs.

It's enough for me. I need a mod to get me through this. Somebody around here is surely familiar with what I'm looking for, so we can wait for them to post. Thanks for your opinions.

You can tip Moxxi time and time again for a decent SMG (it's up to date with the level of the main quest), DPUH and others can be bought from the Torgue machines (up to date with the torgue dlc main quest). If you're desperate, there is also the flame of the firehawk........ I'm currently level 64 and almost everything that I use is quest rewards.......

Most people who mess with the game uses gibbed (save game editor), personally I'm farming the old-fashioned way.

There is a cheat engine around to tweak almost everything, drop rate included.
http://www.cheatengine.org/tables.php

Or, you can use the 4 player slider to have a better chance of high quality loots (also tougher enemy the same time).

Yeah I know. There are scripts that allow you to guarantee a particular rarity to drop, or to customize all rarity drop rates. But the ones I have seen are really flaky and can ruin your character if you don't know exactly what you're doing. I don't want to waste time learning how to use that, I'm hoping to find someone who knows of a preset script that does what I want without me having to screw around with trial and error.

Hey, years later and all, but, for anyone who find this thread now or in the future, this is the mod you want.

http s://github. com/BLCM/BLCMods/tree/master/Borderlands%202%20mods/Apocalyptech/BL2%20Better%20Loot%20Mod

(remove the two spaces, after http and github. respectively, for the link)

Highly configurable. Requires Borderlands Community Mod Manager. Might as well pick up the Community Patch too; load it first, then hit import and import a .txt file with all the text from the link I gave. Easy as that.
